2020 holidays

Meant to be going to Italy for our honeymoon, but the wedding and honeymoon look very unlikely at this stage. Still hopeful we might get a few days in St Andrews or Gleneagles, and visit her parents in Hertfordshire. All 3 would involve some kind of golf.

Got a flight booked to go to my nephew's wedding in June. Currently the flight is still going ahead (EasyJet are cancelling on a 7 day rolling basis) and there is talk that Israel have dropped the 14-day quarantine. If that is confirmed and the flight isn't cancelled I'll be going, but no point if there is still quarantine over there as I'm only going for 5 days

The Mrs was going to be the key speaker at a conference in Dubrovnik. Once that was over, we were getting the ferry to Split, and then on a self guided (you get directions) walking tour, Island hopping, back to Dubrovnik and a bit beyond. It looked lovely, and had a host of 4 star hotels lined up.
Hopefully you will get there another time. Dubrovnik, old town, is lovely, as are the surrounds. If you end up being there, in future, for a few days then I would recommend getting the sea taxi to Cavtat one evening. It is a lovely small town/village, lots of restaturants overlooking the marina, fabulous sunsets. There is a really nice atmosphere to the place. I have not done Split but I know those who have and they are equally complimentary about there as well.

Not really thinking about it at the moment. The thought of staying in a hotel or cottage, is not on my list.

if necessary and if allowed to, will buy a tent or similar and travel around I suppose.

Holiday Greece 2nd week June now cancelled. BA cancelled the flights and we've got refund. We then cancelled our accommodation on free cancellation.

Also got a group holiday to Valencia and local region booked for 2nd week October. That's still on - however I am not sure we are that keen to go for same reasons others have given. uncomfortable about flight; then probably at best only limited access to bars, restaurants, sights etc.

My company has asked that we all take at least 10 of our 25 days leave before end June. So I'm keeping the June week and will do whatever. I also bought 10 extra days leave back in February - and so will be taking 25 days second half of year. Whether or not we go to Spain I'll probably keep that week booked. And then on top of that I'm likely to be looking to book many Fridays as leave and so essentially work a four day week for much of rest of 2020.

Hopefully by later in the year we'll be able to travel and visit friends and relatives in the UK. We are very fortunate in having relatives in the Lake District; the Peak District, and in many of the most beautiful parts of Scotland - and so might just use a good lump of leave second half of the year visiting.

We normally do two long haul holidays a year. I would rather not book at this point in time than have the disappointment of it being cancelled at the last minute.

As family we booked last year to go to Disney in Florida, dropped £5K so far but fortunately took full insurance out, but I am now very nervous as the two week quarantine rules if still in place will be an issue and I just know the insurance Co will say you can still travel so sorry

Cavtat is a great little place, we've also been twice. Had a week in Montenegro (Kotor) last summer then drove up to Cavtat for a few days. I thought Cavtat was pretty chilled, but it was positively buzzing after Kotor! Saying that, Kotor is absolutely beautiful, and I'd love to go back.

On the Airbnb, I also rent out a holiday cottage through them. They keep pushing the date for refunds back, so you may well end up getting a full one. Alternatively, contact the host and see if you can reschedule for next year.

Our cottage hoiliday next months looks unlikely and have another booked in September so fingers crossed.

now you can have a day trip to Weymouth instead ;)

I should be in Turkey right now, probably on the transfer between airport and hotel :-(

Just awaiting the email from TUI so we can rebook for next year, they are giving us 20% extra credit which covers the price rise.

Normally go long haul in November but not planning on booking anything yet. My concern is this 14 day quarantine. I could not take 4 weeks off work for a 2 week holiday and my thought is that if the flight is still going and the hotel is open, is the quarantine on return grounds to cancel. If all of the suppliers can offer their services, would I be able to pull out because I could not take the time off for the quarantine.

Not sure about next year at the moment. Going to be less holiday companies, less flights and a number of places booked from people moving holidays from this year so prices could be sky high.

Family trip to algarve in October, followed by golfing one in November.

Will go if we feel safe to do so. Most airlines are desperate for cash and so worse case I’ll just rebook flights. No hotel/villa to pay til 2 days before flights. So no real risk other than getting money back from ygt.

We've still got 2 weeks booked in Spain from 31st July, have a Villa booked through Villa Plus and flights with BA. We've made enquires is it still going ahead and at the moment they say it is. I'm obviously far from convinced on that front but no cancellation so far.

If it was deemed safe to go, then yeah I'd still go and happily social distance whilst out there.

We’ve just cancelled a few days in Estepona from 1st June. I fully expect EasyJet to cancel the flights but if they don’t I’ll just move them to other dates.

We have a villa booked in Majorca in July, again with EasyJet flights, and we don’t expect to be travelling. The villa is remote and I’m quite confident we can social distance once there, but I don’t think I’m at all comfortable at the prospect of taking the family through a busy airport at peak holiday time.

I still have a while to decide as I am entitled to a full refund if I cancel a month prior to arrival, but I genuinely can’t see us going. The likelihood is we’ll have to quarantine after both flights, so I see absolutely no point.

We’ll put the money towards something another time.

I’ve done the Adriatic coast a couple of times, taking in Dubrovnik both times. It’s a beautiful place, as was our chosen base, the island of Korcula. It’s definitely on our radar to return to both in the future.

Regarding Kotor, we had a day there when on a cruise. Beautiful place but is there enough to see and do to fill a week or longer?

Depends what you want to do. We stayed in Dubrota which is about a mile and a half from Kotor, lovely walk along the front. We walked up the city walls one day. You probably noticed how steep they are, being built into the side of a mountain. Hard work on a hot day, but amazing views. We also took a full day boat trip which was great. The rest of the time was sunbathing and swimming, but there are quite a lot of activities and day trips if that's your thing.

Plenty bars and restaurants on a night time. Food and drink is a good bit cheaper than Croatia. Odd fact - Croatia is in the EU but doesn't use the euro. Montenegro which is next door is not in the EU does use the euro!

One thing to be aware of is there are not many flights from the UK to Tivat which is the nearest airport to Kotor. Manchester and London were the only options when we booked, so we flew to Dubrovnik and booked a private transfer to Kotor. It takes about 1.5-2 hours, hence why we tagged a few days in Cavtat onto the end of the holiday.
