I'd also like to see Luke Donald get his foot in the door as well now he is fully fit again.
Think he is an excellent choice for a major as he has one of the best all round games going about!!!

Do you think he's long enough off the tee to get him in the mix come Sunday afternoon?I'd also like to see Luke Donald get his foot in the door as well now he is fully fit again.

True, my mate practiced with him at Wentworth last year and i walked around watching in awe how straight he was. But, IMO he's not long enough for a lot of Major venues, the likes of Augusta has been changed to find long straight hitters. Cabrerra hits it as far as most players with his 3 wood. St Andrews is set up for long and wide (left) hitters but TW is pretty much unbeatable there. The US Open is known to be tight and the rough is so penal as they don't like players ripping it up, so perhaps this is Luke's best chance. The US PGA again favours long hitters and there's plenty out there. I always want him to do well as he's also a local lad but my head says it's a limited chance depending on venue.Do you think he's long enough off the tee to get him in the mix come Sunday afternoon?I'd also like to see Luke Donald get his foot in the door as well now he is fully fit again.

I personally think he is the only person that can get away with the fact that he is not super long becasue he has a super tight iron game and is a dab hand with a wedge.
Also the other players know how well he putts so when he is hitting first and knocks it close it will put a lot of presure on them to reply.
Anyone else i would agree length would be an issue bit not Donald
What i mean is they keep adding to the length and if you are long and straight you take a lot of the hazards out of the game. What protects St Andrews is the weather and the last 2 there have been bathed in sunshine and no wind. A closer competition during the Dunhill Links me thinks. Can't see how you say St Andrews is set up for long hitters......they hardly hit the dog over the 4 rounds!
One person who will give the big boys a run for their money at St Andrews is Rory McIlroy, he loves it there and has played well in many tournaments there.I think someone out the "new kids on the block" may step up to the plate this year.
Someone like Martin Kaymer, Ross Fisher, maybe even one of the Molinari brothers whom I rate very highly, Sean O'Hair, all have the ability "on their week" to win a major.
I like the idea of Rory, Kaymer and Westwood winning a major this year
