200 Self isolating Brits flee ski resort

People do whatever they want, for reasons best known to themselves the group out in front of ours this morning played as a 3 ball when we're in tier 4 ??

That isn't really feasible from Switzerland though is it? At some point they will need to stop, eat, use toilets, sleep somewhere etc. They can't return to the UK from Switzerland in a bubble that way.
Were does it say they’ve returned to the UK?

Totally agree with the “going abroad” point, but if these people drive back and stay in their car and come in to contact with nobody else, is it a big issue?

but I didn’t come into contact with anyone else.?

No, see my post about were they live?
Tashyboy was, 100% in contact with his son who has been tested as positive, yet he feels it’s ok to drive his wife for a test, with all the risk that entails, and yet nobody tells him he’s broke the law.

I take it in certain circumstances forum members are exempt?

So I have been in contact with lad and Missis T, and rather than me take them to testing centre and stay in the car. What should I of done.Ask someone who has not been in contact with them to take them. ?

Re the situation in Switzerland. There’s a good write up on the BBC about it. It firmly hits the nail on the head when it’s says
“ there was controversy when Switzerland opened the ski resorts to (non Swiss) tourists. There’s an old adage, just coz you can, don’t mean you have to.

People are in it for themselves unfortunately. A good friend of mine that I honestly thought would have known better just went to Dubai for a week on the flight corridor.

Ok, it’s allowed but if you do that at least take the relevant precautions when you get home, just in case.

Nope get home and 2 days later sharing photos of spending Christmas dinner with his girlfriends family, Boxing Day with his own family and visiting grandparents on both sides!

Wouldn’t like his conscience if his elderly family members are struck down! Completely selfish.

It’s going to go mental with cases post Christmas I feel as people seem to hold so much importance in seeing family over Christmas.

You get tested on arrival at DXB, are people that nipped to Tesco on Christmas eve then saw relatives as selfish?

This does not necessarily break the rules - though I suspect it probably did.
From the regs posted on this site....
...Three or fourballs will also be allowed but only if they are involving people from the same household/bubble....

But how is that any different to driven however many miles to "test your eyesight"?
You know you shouldn't have done it, just admit it and stop criticising others for breaking the rules as well.:)

So I will hold my hands up and say I got it wrong for the sake of discussion. So How should Missis T of got to the centre. Or anyone else in that situation that don’t feel well enough to drive. Because the only other alternative I can see at the moment is that someone who has not been in contact with Missis T or anyone else that needs a test is to take them.

3 guys with different surnames - I doubt they're a bubble or from the same household. But add to that the booking system at the moment, and club rule, is 2 ball only for 9 holes

Have you considered some/all of these maybe Brits living/working on the Continent who were unable to return to the UK for Christmas?

Nowhere in that report does it say they’ve all come back to the UK.

I don't think that excuses them from staying in isolation if that is what the Swiss Govt ordered. Doesn't matter where they have returned to, how, or who they have or haven't been in contact with, it's irresponsible and reckless in the current pandemic.

Tash, from a husband/Dad/etc point of view I would of done exactly the same as you, however, we’d of both broke the law.

I knew of a few families in Germany who would go to Austria or Switzerland or Italy every Christmas/New Year for the skiing etc, if those sorts were in Switzerland and negative for Covid had driven home to Germany, they could of easily done the journey without coming in to contact with anyone.

Both theirs and your scenario, what if though? What if you’d broken down or had an accident etc.

I don’t understand anyone going on holiday at the moment and if the 200 broke Swiss laws then if identified they, imo, should be punished somehow.

I just find it very surprising on here at times how quick people are to judge others without knowing all the facts, especially from a media that 99% of us have very little faith in.(y)

Where are they going then? They are described as British holidaymakers, it is pretty logical that they would be returning to the UK. If not then they would be ex-pats scattered around Europe and it would not register as a story.
Again though, British Tourists are only British Passport holders, how would they know were they live.
Just like me, you are guessing.:)

Is anyone really surprised of any action where people ignore lockdown guidelines- it’s been happening since day 1 and it will happen until it finishes

There are many people who think it’s not as bad as reported

Or that it won’t affect them

Or that it’s not really a law just a guideline

Or just don’t understand the guidelines

Or have had enough of it all

I know people who went round to families on Xmas day , had multiple households together for Xmas etc

It’s going to happen

If you are going to make rules....don't you need to enforce them? If I want to drive my car like an idiot....speeding, running red lights etc I will at some point get the hammer thrown at me.....so I don't do it (I'm a good boy I am...). I don't know of anybody who has gotten into trouble for ignoring the rules around Covid....I guess maybe there are some people out there, but I sure don't hear about it. You occasionally see the police breaking up parties with tons of people and they report them as being fined....no follow up though. And....that type of behavior isn't the usual. People are just ignoring the rules.....because nothing happens to them. Don't expect things to change just because someone tells them they aren't supposed to do something......plenty of people will just keep ignoring the rules. At this point.....I don't see any real reason to have "the rules" if there isn't a bigger crack down that has taken place so far....

Those breaking the rules are a minority, a minority will break all rules of some sort or another.

None of us can say they‘ve never broken a rule ever.

Covid-19, as long as you can look at those you love and say you’ve never put them or anyone else at risk from your own behaviour, then you can do no more, idiots will be idiots regardless.
