As of late I've been struggling with my putting, but only at my home course. Our greens can be sluggish early into the season so require a good hit to get the ball to the hole. (My biggest failing on greens, forever leaving putts short).

I've played linderick and Rockcliffe hall where both courses had greens running at a faster pace and my Scotty has worked perfectly, in fact I putted pretty well at both. But at my home gaff I can't/daren't hit it hard enough to get the ball to the hole consistently. I swapped over to my old cleveland putter which is a little lighter and WOW. No short putts pretty much all day.

So its either figure out a way to get the scotty lighter before our greens speed up, or game the cleveland until the role returns?:mmm:
Would chucking a heavier putter grip onto the scotty make the club feel less head heavy?

A FC uses a solid face putter during the winter months when the greens are slow and then uses one with an insert when the greens are quick

Couldnt agree more and have said this in the past.Using my light Ping Pal 2 putter in winter on slow dewy greens is a struggle but is a great putter on summer fast greens.I'll stick with the Ping for now but I'm looking at getting a heavy scotty in the bag for next winters golf

See now I'm the opposite, Light putter on slow greens and heavy putter on fast greens.
Ready a bit, it could be the length of the putter that effects the feel of weight more, the Cleveland is 33" compared to 34" of the Scotty

I use a TM putter with an insert in winter on slow wooly greens and my scotty with a metal face once the greens speed up and start to roll well.

I am not worrying about putting until our greens are up to speed. spent about half an hour today putting and in the end i just gave up as they were so slow.

they had been cut since yesterday so weren't as bobbly but still nowhere near up to speed.

Stick with this. I read a report on Golf WRX that for slow greens use a light putter and for faster greens use a heavy one. I've upped my Del Mar by some bit, it's over 700g's in all, I've just bought a Dave Hicks putter similar style to the Del Mar which is an inch shorter 33" and is just over 500g's.

I never change my putter for on slow wet wintertime greens. I alwyas change ball to something like an NXT in winter so I find that bit of extra firmness with the ball makes up for the slower paceless greens.

I used to. have two scotty's the same but one heavy one normal and ised the heavy during winter ( pro said it should be the other way around) but we were on the full greens all winter and didn't change this year and won't bother in future either.

All seems an individual considerations to me.

Heavy (overall) putter should tend to smooth jitteriness on fast greens, but if you don't suffer from that then little benefit and a light putter tends to provide more feel.

I've experimented with all sorts and find the one that the one I feel most comfortable with generally works best everywhere. Getting it to the hole is a 'problem' for me on any speed green!

Was close to cutting down a Scotty…. but decided better of it.
Just traded in the Scotty for Ping Karsten TR Anser 2. Adjustable length was the deal maker, same look but the shorter shaft and thicker grip. Roles amazing on the greens and has a lovely feel, something the scotty is devoid of.
