1st tee, who starts.

Just out of interest, after it has been determined who has the honour, is there any particular place the others should stand while the player tees off? I vaguely recall reading something about that somewhere.

;) :D

I'll get me coat.

The person who is ready goes first for God's sake.

Played in a comp a few weeks back and one bloke insisted on taking his honour as he is entitled to do but blimey did he faff about. One of our group said on the 7th " we've got to speed things up here mate, we're loosing alot of ground. I'm ready, shall i go?" he said no and took even longer grrrrrrrrrr

We have one bloke who has a pre-shot routine which is interminable, involves lining up, practice swings, re-lining up, waggling etc. If anyone disturbs his routine by talking or moving in his eyeline he moans at them and starts his routine all over again. He's a frigging nightmare.

Both these people need telling they should not be unduly delaying themselves (rule 6-7), and more importantly, others also, especially if ground is noticeably being lost to the group in front, and if they are habitual offenders, time them and then report them, simples!

At our place High guy tee's off first in medals, at a previous club it was the low guys.

In team matches, away team go first.

Same exact HC who knows. Easily sorted out within seconds.
"is it me or you?" "no idea, if your ready fire away" "fine with me, play well mate"

Match play must have a draw sheet otherwise no one will know who their opponent is. The first named player goes first.

...being the 'top' player in the draw.

My previous club also had it that the 'top' player in the draw was responsible for making contact to arrange the match.

In non-drawn golf or where there isn't a start sheet then the etiquette is that the lowest handicap is given the opportunity to play first.

I doubt God has much say in the matter ;)

Players go in order of the start sheet or lowest handicap first. Also in matchplay, guess the ball is odd or even. Team games, visitors start with the honour.

Whatever is harmonious with the group is the best approach.
