18 straight pars in a round

He never looked like hitting a par 5 in tow when HTL and I played with him so don't be fooled into believing he's a monster hitter!! If it were me, then what is the point of playing golf if you aren't trying to shoot as low as you can. 18 pars so what - not that exciting

18 pars is a great achievement, but at the end of the day, it's still only a level par round. I personally would've been busting my (big!) gut to have got that birdie! Would've loved to have been able to say that I shot 1-under with 17 pars and a birdie up the last!

We were talking about this in the clubhouse a few weeks ago and all the low guys admitted they would go for the 18 pars over any score.

I'd love to make 18 pars. I've got close (ish :)) over the years. Well done to you, not perhaps the lowest scoring round of your life, but still an achievement.
I'd have gone for the birdie regardless.

Personally, all pars and birdies (as an example) trumps all pars. I'm guessing your chaps were keen on the idea of having no bogeys?

I intentionally missed a few putts at Cooden last week, if I hadn't I would have had 43 points and not 32.
But Alan Bannisters dog had just died and I felt sorry for him so wanted him to win.

It isn't as if the last is that hard at Pyrford so I'd be trying to get as low as possible. If the putt doesn't drop then cest la vie but to intentionally miss is a waste of time playing

I wasn't playing Pyrford. It was Sunbury which is a ton easier.

I've done rounds with no bogeys before so this was just a chance for something unique so went for it.

I guess the point is that it was a 'forced' level par round, as oppossed to a natural level par round. I can see a difference.

Your quite right in thinking that for a lot of us, a level par round, regardless of how it's achieved would be remarkable. I can only imagine being able to do that at this point in time. So in that resoect I wonder if some on here think that your throwing away an obvious talent. But I do understand you reasons behind what you did. But not nessecarily agreeing with forcing it though.

For me. Lowest pb is still the top dog of my personal scores. Regardless of how it's achieved.

It's still a good score though regardless.

I've seen a level par round, with every fairway and green in regulation. It was fantastic to watch be also very frustrating as the 18 two putts were 18 birdies chances that didn't drop.
