I'm on the course at the moment in a team comp. We've just discovered one of us has to many clubs in the bag.

It's not going to matter because our score is rubbish, but is the penalty only on that player if we used his scores, or on the team?

Thanks.

Rule 4 - 4.

a. Selection and Addition of Clubs
The player must not start a stipulated round with more than fourteen clubs.

So it looks like it's just on the numpty that can't count, but I am not an expert & will probably be corrected shortly…...

Whats the format of the comp ? if ye are playing yer own ball should be simple enough , scramble ? well RoG don't cover that anyhow

2 shot pen for each hole he has the 15 , with a maximum of 2 holes 4 shots AFAIK

It was a yellowball comp, which I guess the rules won't cover. We were going to assume the same rules as for a better ball comp.

A side is penalized for a breach of any of the following by any partner:

  • Rule 4 Clubs
A side is disqualified if any partner incurs a penalty of disqualification under any of the following:

  • Rule 4 Clubs

One player having too many clubs has the potential to affect his play and his scoring; in a team, an individuals play and scoring has the potential to affect the play and scoring of the others and hence that of the team - team should be penalised. Side disqualified?

Have I misunderstood or are you suggesting rule 30-3 should be modified?

Thank you.

So just to make sure I understand correctly, we take 2 points off our stableford score for each of the first two holes, regardless of who scored the points?

Just out of interest - if the above is right - if we scored less than 2 points on one of the holes, would we be 0, or negative, or just take the points off the total at the end?

You take 4 points off the total if you played 2 holes before the breach was discovered and the player put the excess clubs out of play.

If he didn't declare excess clubs out of play and continued with the 15 after discovery then the team is disqualified.

We discovered it on the 13th. I asked him to pick a club to declare out of play, which he did.

Someon had given him a club yesterday after a round. He'd put it in his bag to take home as it's the easiest way of carrying it, and just forgot it was there.

Just to make his day even better, the reason our score was rubbish is that the same guy lost our yellow ball on the 6th.
