13 Clubs In the bag Help

i haven't been able to find a 60 degree wedge (mizuno) with 10 or more degrees of bounce.....

i see where you are coming from though, putting in a 56 degree, definteley will consider it

Just because you're allowed 14 clubs doesn't mean you need to carry 14 clubs.

Do you have any noticable diatance gaps through the bag?

Hi Gareth

Yep i realise that i don't have to have 14, (though i guess it may have come across that i didn't....)

I just want to buy a 14th ....

I think my gapping is pretty ok, to be honest

Bag looks pretty reasonably balanced even with 'only' 13 clubs.

To me, any changes would involve ditching clubs as part of the change - which I'd be reluctant to dive into.

You could get a specialist (high bounce) Sand Wedge though. If the 58 is low bounce, it's likely to be of limited use (it'll dig) in some sand.

Other alternatives could well be using 2 Utilities/Hybrids, though that would probably replace the 4-iron too. Or a complete reassesment of the wedges - 50, 55/56, 60 but that seems a lot of hassle/expense for not much gain.

i am a big advcate of the "many wedges theory". i think you could easily stick a 55/56 in there. ive been having some serious doubts about the 52/58 set up that many on here live by. i think this set up pushes people to use their lob wedge a little to much.

you have room for 2 extra clubs. get a SW in there!

I agree with this totally. You'll use and need more of your lofted clubs in a round to score better than the big dogs. Re route your wedges from the 45 degrees up to 60. Aim to have a 3-4 degree gap ideally. Think carefully about what bounce you have on these and this will make a huge difference in your short game. I only suggest this as I've just bought a new set of clubs myself and have also changed my wedge lofts to support them. 4 wedges in the bag from 48 degree to 60 :) One last thing is to actually have your wedges measured as most of mine were between 1- 3 degrees strong than the suggested number:confused: You can then either have them adjusted or just use what you have.

I often play with just 12 clubs and find that adequate for my needs.

If you don't have any obvious gaps but your short game is weak, then you could consider a Cleveland Niblick. It is not a 'chipper' (albeit I await people opining to the contrary) but rather a short game hybrid. You can do all sorts with them... including chipping.

They come in 37*, 42*, 49* and 56*. For your short game requirements, I would advise you ignore the extremes and go for one in the middle.

They're very cheap on eBay pre-loved, and you can easily sell on if not to your tastes.

Get a 58/10 and then get it bent to 60. The bounce will move to 12............or a 56/10 becomes a 60/14..........

Don't be fixed to lofts either - it's distance hit that is more important.
Your gap between a 56 and a 58 may be spot on - until you've tried it you don't know.
