11 holes and +7... does this mean I have got some potential :)

new swing, new approach and the best 11 holes ever

Went to the range to ingrain the new changes and was hitting a lovely draw shot after shot so thought sod it, lets get a few holes in.

bogey, bogey, bogey, par, par, par, bogey, bogey, bogey, bogey, par. I know you single figure guys will probs think so what but believe me its a mini miracle

3 of the bogeys were 2 putts aswell and 1 I was just off in 2 and duffed my chip so could have been better!

It seems leaving out the driver (and 3 iron JustOne) made a big difference, I measured a 4 wood at 231yds so will take that all day long.


The Garmin GPS was flawless aswell and I seem to have found my short game club of choice, my g10 sw

Don't worry I wont take it for granted and still loads of work to do as I did push a few straight right and my irons seem to be a club longer, I even hit my pw 135 and cleared the green on the 9th.

If I didnt have to get home to cook the kids tea I would have finished the round, was only gonna do 9 but had to be greedy and have an extra couple. The weather was absolutely perfect, course was in great nick.

Shame its gonna be pishing down in Sundays Stableford comp

Good score Gibbo, it definitely shows potential. Christ, I was +10 through 11 at last weeks medal. Fair enough I rescued it to finish gross +8 but through 11 +7 is good in my book :thup:

haha, Scott, I am staying put for a year, ebay keeps tempting me but I am actually liking the G10's at the mo.

I think it does highlight how watching youtube vids, reading books etc can't beat having a proper lesson!!! One simple fix has literally transformed me.

Thanks Greig, as a 28 h.c chopper I seriously wonder if I was just meant to be crap and would never progress. Early days but I have new found hope

It's wierd as I thought my game was coming along nicely before but my bad shots were very bad. Now I feel a lot more in control. I know its only been a couple of days but I now have a setup routine and a visual picture of what I want rather than just swing and hope.

I also changed my putting slighty as a long lazy backswing was causing me to push the ball and come up short so have moved to a shorter slightly quicker putting stroke.

Its the little things that make all the difference.

Thanks for the confidence inspiring comments chaps, greatly appreciated. Off for 18 holes shortly, no expectations just concentrate on the basics

going to leave it out until the swing is bedded in and my pro introduces it into a lesson/gives me some drills.

played 15 today, had to get back for the kids so couldnt do the full round. Anyhow, 11 over through 15, talk about ecstatic, 6 greens in reg, 2 3 putt doubles (on our 1st/10th which are my nemeis holes) so could have been even better and some absolute awesome approaches.

I am now worried it will all go to pot Sunday
