Good spot.

Going to give the journo some credit here though, does seem to also mention Open Championship a couple of times also. Maybe the editor overruled.

This is not an article, just an advert

This one (1st page) - like the way the people replying keep politely bringing it back to Open, but OP is not having it

This calling the Open Championship, The British Open is creeping in more and more unfortunately from over the pond. Even Nicklaus has succumbed to it recently. When I was at The Open last time it was held at Royal Birkdale I was watching the American ( or do we say Yankee!!!!!) Rich Lerner doing a report for the Golf Channel and was talking and saying The Open Championship in his piece, when he stopped he asked his director was that ok and asked if saying The Open was ok? His producer said re-do it and say The British Open and before I knew what I was doing I blurted out, It's called The Open, they both looked and Lerner said excuse me? I said it's the Open, there's only one Open Championship. To which Lerner said are you hearing on what you are saying, what about the U.S. Open? I retorted yeah fair point, but go to the tented village and show me a sign that says The British Open? Looked at him shook my head and walked away...........
