£300 for a driver or putter which one.

Currently, I'm not looking to replace my putter or driver, although I could be parted with my current driver a bit easier than my current putter. If the cash was "spare" and I needed to buy both, my onus would be on finding which driver was best fit for me, and which putter felt best when testing out. Then I'd look at the costs, debate, balance, wangle, whatever to get the both of them. If I only needed one of them, the money would be spent on the need first, but if I was looking to replace anything in my bag at the moment, it would be the hybrids.

It was a lot easier for me when I lived up the road from you (Milton Keynes), as I now live in a village on the Lincolnshire coast. My nearest golf shop is about 45 minutes away, as my pro shop has only got got a few balls, a few tees, 3 clubs and a shirt.

Not planning an upgrade to either but it would probably be the driver - 915 or I'll wait for 917. Ooh Sir, that sounds naughty... A 917? For me? But I couldn't, could I? In my size - you've got one? Oh Sir.

My brain says putter or wedges blah blah blah but who am I kidding...

I feel better about the £280 I just spent on my Scotty now!

Scotties are very nice looking putters no doubt about it, not going to argue about that but I question their face millings are severe and don't think they actually help and just there for cosmetic reasons. I have a Del Mar California as well as 4 other Cameron's but I won't use them now.
The new putter I have now has grooves on the face and it rolls the ball quicker then I was doing.

I tried the Scotty Cameron range on their 2015 release at Silvermere. Undoubtedly very well crafted but I have a milled Odyssey #9 which was significantly cheaper and equally effective. Most drivers are £300+ anyway and while I keep getting tempted by the new Ping G and the Titleist 915, I am trying hard to refrain as I'm not convinced how big the benefit will be. It probably won't stop me trying them though. I have enough putters and wouldn't want to pay £300 for a putter

I was fitted for my putter, a Yes! Golf Sara 12 back in 2012 at Yes! Golf when they were still in Southport. Best £150 I've ever spent on a golf club and I'm in no hurry to change it. I had a quick try of an SC on Monday night after my lesson and it felt similar to my putter, although a tad lighter with similar results. Given it was priced at £239 (I think) I'm in no hurry to change.

I also get on well with my driver (TM Jetspeed) so no plans to change, but if I did have the £300 and the choice the op gave us, I'd be looking at new drivers. But if it wasn't any better than my current driver, the £300 would stay in my pocket!

Just because something costs £300 when it come out, unless your have a very large amount of expendable income each month I honestly cannot see why people buy new when stuff comes out. A six to eight month wait can prove a wise investment

Taylormade 09 burner driver, £200 new purchased end of the season for £89.00

xr driver 2015, £279 new purchased 6 rounds old at the end of the season for £80.00

These are two easy examples but to me other than my CF16's I have never purchased anything as its launched and I only took them as the deal was too good to miss.

i know i started this thread and £300 may of been a random figure but i paid £329 for SLDR which was a massive amount and was desperatly disappointed. yet have seen putters that are around the £300 mark.
For the record my current Ping G30 was a demo club from a local club which cost me £110. My odyssey two ball putter cost £90 new but had a small dink on the top. They are two clubs that will be with me for a long time.
With re to Scotty cameron putters, biggest regret was not buying one i was asked to sell at the pit. Newport 2.0 i think it was. he wanted £30.

Paid £130 for my Ping putter and am happy with it. I could never see me paying £300 for a putter. I'm not sure the technology in a putter justifies that outlay.

Drivers, however, are a complete mystery to me and I'm not sure how they work - I could probably be tempted to part with a vast amount of money if some salesman promised me an extra yard or two off the tee.

Your putts will go further with this putter isn't that good a good sales pitch IMHO.

Your 300 quid putter will still look like a 300 quid putter in 3 years time.

Your £300 driver will most likely look like a 3 year old driver in 3 years time.

Anyone still with me?

i had a putter fitting and paid £350 for mine 4 weeks ago. The most expensive club I've ever bought.
