Not Hertfordshire, but my home club in Cambridge is pretty much bone dry all year. Worth a visit (when golf reopens and visitor/guests are allowed again).
I’m going for a full bag kit out this year.
Irons - probably either MP20 or 921 tour.
Woods - probably TaylorMade Sim.
Wedges - probably vokey SM8’s (or 9’s if they’re available).
this is why I’m interested in the Mizuno tour day. It’s £500 for an experience that I wouldn’t forget. I’ve been playing golf for over 35 years and I’ve had 3 sets of clubs in that time (one of which were stolen) so I don’t buy new irons often.
I’m very tempted.
I'd say both of your points there then are about the golf course you're playing. My course sees most holes offering a very different tee shot from the yellows compared to the whites and the fairways are not muddy at all.
The only part of winter golf that's an issue for me (and for everyone else) is going to be frozen greens. Frozen greens are pretty much unplayable for pretty much everyone.
As long as you're playing a course that holds up well in the winter then there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to...
Only just getting around to reading this thread. Fascinating read guys!
I’m in the market for a new set of Mizuno’s after 10 years playing my mp59’s which I’ve absolutely loved.
I’ve seen the offer of a full tour fitting experience for £500. Is this the same as what you guys did?
my advice;
club glove
Take the head off of your woods (if you can)
Tuck the shafts just under the height of the broom handle.
Wrap a towel between the irons and around the heads.
Travelled abroad like this several times and not had a problem (yet).
I drive a Mercedes E500 convertible. Not masses of room but I’m able to get a tour bag in the boot and my trolley goes on the back seat.
I do have to take my woods out of the bag and lay them diagonally across the floor of the boot in order to get then in.
I currently play off of 2 and manage a grand total of one game every 7 days with no practice in between (most of the time).
if I were able to play full time I reckon I could get my game down to maybe +1.
