From all the true public courses i have played (mostly in Scotland) i would say Troon Darley is up there.
The problem with most is the amount of play they get. The fairways can take a beating.
+1 for Stuburt
Stuburt Helium Jacket - top banana!
To be honest the way i treat most of my clothes (left getting crispy in the boot) i couldn't justify the extra money.
I am right that for country membership you need to remain a fully paid member at your current club?
Also i thought these memberships require you to live a certain distance away from the club (usually +30 miles).
I kinda want the opposite.
I could easily be wrong.
Morning all.
Recently got news that i will be moving to London (from Glasgow) in a few months. This we be for about 3 years.
I'll be living about 5 miles North of the city (would flex for better facilities).
Can anyone recommend the best places to keep golfing regularly (ideally keeping some...
Ross,
Shot in the dark here, but are you booked up to go with a group including a guy called Ian Miller and others?
If you are i'll also be on the trip. (I had been told there was a Ross joining us)
Very basic clubhouse/hotel. One of the boys found mushrooms on the bathroom carpet last year...
Footy pitch is a good shout. Dont mind a short drive to one either.
Most round me are clay. Good practice for playing off a tee-side path :o
Either that or buy a top floor penthouse and pray i dont hit one thin ;)
Just read another post about practice and it got me thinking.
I live in the centre of Glasgow in a 2nd floor flat and i am not a member of a club.
My question is, does anyone have suggestions where i could practice my short game.
I regularly go to the local range, but short wedges and...
Thanks.
I'm happy enough with the speed im improving.
I guess im thinking if i can get to a point where i feel i am close to a complete swing and strike i am happy with and am continuously shooting low scores i would think about a custom fit job rather than a set in between.
I'd rather...
I'm interested in people's views about when to upgrade to a new set of irons/wedges.
I've been back playing golf regularly for 2 years after a 2 year gap and over the past year have seen my handicap reduce very quickly from 20 to 11.
I have been playing with a great set of Maxfli Revolution...
I'll be attending for the first time on Saturday and Sunday. Managed to get free accommodation which swung it really.
Has anyone got any first timer tips to boost the viewing experience.
Taking in a crate to stand on perhaps. :p Frowned upon?
Also things like binoculars etc.
I'd politely inform the individual that i would not turn up to a running track and start firing balls at the start line. This in my view is the same thing in reverse.
I would also not turn up for a days putting practice at Crufts.
I have the same problem. Also within the same fourball i also have a mate who sulks . . i mean . . he could be having a bad day by the 2nd and won't speak a word for the rest of the round.
I find that more of a distraction. Its like waiting for him to explode.
I'd tell your mate he's putting...
I've had a perfectly good net from Argos for the past 5 years.
Looks like they've still got a good selection.
A lot cheaper than most places. I wouldn't bother with a home made creation (not saying your not up to the job).
