    Neck/cervical issues ?

In 2014 I managed to completely destroy three discs in a very innocuous fall. Destroyed three discs between C4&5, 5&6, 6&7. A brilliant surgeon took out the exploded discs and put a fancy titanium frame in which in time fused my vertibrae together. I can still manage to hit a ball, in the...

Returning To The Forum Back Benches.

Decided my time as a mod had come to an end as well. Handed back the Ban Hamer on Friday. Hope the new team get on well.

    Giving up golf

Don't do it Ethan, maybe give up the membership for now, but, don't give up all together. I had to give up back in 2014, never a week goes by where I don't think "if only I could play one more round" I miss it terribly.

    First ever round of golf

Summer of 1972, after knocking a ball about our local pitches it was time to try the "proper course" for the first time. Managed to get round in 129 blows with my bag of assorted clubs. Think I had 7 clubs of various ages and conditions. By the time we went back to school in mid August I had...

Good Luck in your new role @MikeH

17 years is a long time. He's been around at a time of great change, a change to the digitall era. A lot of new ideas were needed and he's run the team who came up with them. Sorry to see him go. Hope all goes well for him in the future. Always a gentleman when I've met him at events.

    North Berwick wee course

There's also Winterfie,d over at Dunbar, a very nice short course. Great views as its a half parkland and half links sort if course. Easy round after a days travel.

    Anyone got a spare £750,000

Used to be a popular place 20 years back when the hotel was still operating. A "developer" put an end to the hotel and the course suffered badly. A local company got involved in around 2010 refurbished their clubhouse and made the caravan site a bit more viable. The course itself has some...

    Council course

Braids had two 18 hole course. One Braids no2, was turned into a 9 hole course set up to make it easier for those starting out, or those getting a bit long in the tooth ?

    Council course

These courses have been very busy in the last couple of years. During 2020, after the first covid lockdown, they were totaly full. It was very difficultly to get zvtee time. It has eased a bit, but they are still very popular. I grew up playing Silverknowes, a nice course overlooking the Firth...

Clubs for a pencil bag trip

Some cracking "holiday" golf courses in most parts of the country. Dont discount the wee 9 hole courses, many have two sets of tees to give a bit of variety over 18 holes. Some of the smaller places even have an honesty box for you to pay your greenfee. Given a good day, you'll find somewhere to...

To those of us who remembered golf back in the 1970s this man was up there with the best. RIP Tom.
