Your Talents

Hi Kid2,

I am not exactly sure of your age but I think you are young enough to have quite a bit of free time.

All that said, I think Smiffy makes a very valid point in terms of short game. This is something that can be practised and certainly should be as often as possible. Chipping in the back garden for half an hour is better than hitting a bucket of balls in my view. And you can putt for as long as you like on the living room carpet - this may not give you the same roll as your course greens but it will certainly help you to develop a feel for distance and stroke.

Just my thoughts... but there's more than one way to skin a cat of course.

Snelly.

Hi Snelly....Dont let the forum name throw you.... :D
Im 35 Mate with 2 kids....

In reply when i hit the range im never actually welting balls....I spend about 4 hrs a week practicing my chipping and putting on the practice green at a local golf course....Not my home club...Its too far a drive in the evenings after work with the night falling so fast....

I think over the last few weeks my 2 evenings a week practice have been paying off as i have dropped 2.4 shots off my handicap in 4 weeks and have had a 1st and 2nd place in 2 comps..

Im just very keen and eager to improve i find it very rewarding when you know the work your putting in is starting to pay off

Well Kid, once the season is over, i will be playing a lot less, trying to get my tennis elbow sorted.
Going to try and have 6-8 weeks off, maybe from nov time, will probs end up playing the odd round like.
Come Feb/end of Jan, will prob hit the range to get my groove back, the start working on short game. I have a good swing, just need to find consistant rhythm, my ball striking is very good, if my short game matched the rest of my game, I would be low singles figures, the pro I have lessons with want me to work on 50 yards and in, and putting (keeping head still) which I can do in the living room! :)
