A bit of amatuer game keeping and shooting etc for a gun club also used to train gun dogs although never had any in field trials. Fly fishing used to he in there as well.
I help run one of the largest (and best) football clubs in the area
......
but running for runnings sake bores me. I re joined a gym in early Dec, the plan is to go 2/3 times a week...... I've been twice in a month.![]()
What about trail running or adventure races? I find the mixed terrain keeps things fun.. I agree road running can be dull as anything. Down there in Dorset you must have some amazing coastal paths to run on?
Also try the minimalist/barefoot stuff to spice things up?
Gliding used to take up most of my time but I stopped instructing due to the different ways they kept trying to kill me! I now occasionally fly for fun and only on fair days, had enough of rough weather flying.
There are some amazing places to run. the beach, the new forest, the downs the other side of Wimbourne.
This time last year I bought all the kit including some tights), went to the New Forest twice and loved it. Just not enough to do it on a regular basis, I went running on the beach once in the summer, pulled my calf and limped home with my tail between my legs.
I have been inspired by this thread. I'm off to the gym now. A least there I can go on the running machine and look at some birds arse on the stepper infront. (apologies Amanda it doesn't make me a bad person)
Whatever motivates you is fine but hope they're not lycra clad wobbly lumps !!
