Your no1 must play course??

I'd love to play the famous Welsh links courses, being a welsh boy myself; courses like Royal Porthcawl, Aberdovey, Tenby, and i especially like the look of Machynys Peninsula! Anyone here played that?
 
Leopard creek in South Africa when I am home next.
In the UK it has to be the Old Course.
Ireland would be Waterville.
Augusta National in the USA (I wish)

Yep, played Machynys along with Porthcawl, P&K, Ashburnham and Pennard. Lovely stretch of courses along that bit of coastline although Machynys isn't actually a links. But well worth playing, I really enjoyed it both times I played there.
 
On the 'never gonna happen' list: Cypress Point, Pine Valley

On the 'if I have the time one day' list: Bandon Dunes, Sand Hills, Cape Kidnappers

On the UK list: Ganton, Muirfield, Archerfield - Renaissance, that new course which is not yet built near Portrush.
 
For some reason I have a burning desire to play Sunningdale old. I will one day if I get my handicap low enough. I think I just like the name of the course lol
 
Setting aside fantasy-never-ever-going-to-happen places, mine is currently the Berkshire (Red and Blue). Might manage it this year as me and a couple of mates are all keen.

Reminds me I mustr check out the website.
 
Fortunately, I've been able to play quite a few top courses in UK 8 of the 14 that have staged The Open so 6 to go. Sunningdale's pair are great and a Summer day at The Berkshire (Red, Lunch, Blue) is my idea of heaven!

I've played the 2 'lesser' courses at Wentworth a few times, so the West would be interesting. Nearly got on it a few weeks back, but someone 'forgot' the arrangement! :angry:

Outside UK, should I ever get back home again, Paraparaumu, Kauri Cliffs and Cape Kidnappers would be my list.
Royal Melbourne and Royal Sydney if I don't make quite that far! Beth Page Black is the only one of interest in US - rest being too expensive!

Just been invited to a wedding in June in California. It's short notice and I don't know the bride that well (friend of my wife's) so shouldn't probably say no but I probably won't go over there again so I think I should definitely play Pebble Beach. I'd obviously love to play Cypress Point - don't suppose anyone know's a member that would be keen for a game in June???
 
The list is endless for me, so many nice tracks around the world it's difficult to pick out one. Pebble Beach would probably be top of the list although with my fade I'm not sure I'd do too well around there! Sawgrass, Els Club, St Andrews, Carnoustie, Harbour Town......

Just need to win the lottery really.

After seeing the pictures and reading the reviews, I really want to go and play the courses at Woburn.

Haha spot on! Play the Red in the morning, it's the better course then after lunch you can waddle round the Blue trying to swing a club round a stuffed belly!!

What is it about all those top Surrey :whistle:courses that they provide fabulous lunches then you can't hit a ball to save your life in the afternoon??

The lunch at The Berkshire is up there with St Georges Hill and Swinley. Last lunch I had a St Georges Hill there was a choice of 14 fourteen puddings, not that I was counting.:whistle:

I've never counted the puddings at SGH but I have absolutely no reason to doubt you! I agree that SGH, Berkshire and Swinley probably do provide THE best lunches you will encounter at any golf course...period

Liphook is another one, at their scratch open you get coffee and bacon roll, 3 course carvery lunch and when you finish you get high tea. Bonkers when you have to play competitive golf after a huge lunch :eek:
