Had a 4ball knockout last night, lovely evening glorious sunshine so there was plenty of time to get the game finished even teeing off @ 5pm.........

Finally finished @ 9.20pm on the 22nd hole in virtual darkness. If there was still no outcome I don't think we could have gone on any further. Sky caddy proved extra valuable when you can't see where you're going!!

What was your longest match??

Had 2x 5 1/2 hour matches but in both instances they were on a charity golf day with 'once a year' golfers.

Last summer I played nine holes with a mate and it was 2 1/2 hours gone and we were still on the 7th green so we walked off and went for a pint.

As much as I'm addicted to golf i dont enjoy waiting an eternity to finish a round. Just spoils it really.

In a Doubles KO years back we went to the 21st. But the problem was it had started lashing down with rain on the 3rd and we were all completely drenched. The 21st (3rd) is also as far from the clubhouse as you can get on this particular course so the mile trudge back to the warm and dry seemed to take forever as we'd lost to an Eagle!

Wasn't meant as a slow play thread :o

Was kind of thinking the most extra holes during a matchplay event??

oh..... never mind..... :) :) :)

I think 21st hole was the longest I have gone. In a foursomes comp.

Lost too, and my fault, total brain storm on the 3rd extra hole going for glory, when all we needed was a bogey (with a shot too). I was on the edge of the trees, and a little chip out, followed by my partner putting me on the green would have done it. But, I went for the big fade from the trees. I had had about 20 back swings, making sure I missed the branches. Come the real one, my club got snagged up on the down swing, nearly ripping it from my hands, and I missed the ball by about 2 foot. Ooops. Sorry mate. Fancy a beer?

Played my first doubles match a couple of weeks ago.

Their 9 h'cap needed a 5 to win the match from 10 yards off the green on 18 in 2, and made 6. Then my partner went OOB on the first extra hole and I went OOB on the 2nd extra hole, won it on the 3rd extra hole (21st).

Same as you Robobum 4BBB knockout.......22nd hole in the dark. The anoying thing is we were 2 up playing 17, my partner had a 18 inch putt for a half and the match, and missed.

We lost BTW :(

Longest I've ever been involved in was a 23 holer at Crowborough one year with a mate of mine in the "Mary Rose Flagons" 4BB. Won it on the 5th extra hole and then had to run back to the clubhouse to meet up with a guy I was playing in a singles match the same afternoon.
I won that as well (I used to be quite good)

I've only ever gone to extra holes once in all the time i've played golf

Our County knockout this year in the semis and the group went to the 25th hole to find a winner.

20th hole just the other week. won it.

last year was my first playing matches and I always wanted to make sure I at least got to the 16th. the amount of times I think i put the effort in to getting that far and then losing it on 17 or 18...

36 holes. Was many years ago, and an older mate of mine who was always right about everything wouldn't go to extra holes as I had a shot at the first, so we re-played the match right away, I won on the last green.

If we'd played extra holes, he'd have won on the 19th. :)

I think I've only ever gone to the 20th. I've normally been turned over by then (got only an average matchplay singles record). Mind you I was giving the guy a shot on the 20th and so was a bit worried. That went as he went OB and then hit a ropey one off the tee. I got the ball into play and he called it a day without me having to hit my second.
