Just wondering, what is the best part of your game and which golfer would you say you play most like?

It can vary greatly week by week for me. I guess this is why im not a pro. But more often than not my ball striking is good with irons meaning I can play some confident approach shots. On good greens my putting is usually solid too.
I dont know which pro im like, a bit like all of them just not as good at golf :D

Best part of my game is definitely my approach shots from <100 yards. I'm definitely getting much closer to the flags this year and therefore making more birdies. I'm not sure who I ca compare myself too. I have a very unique and idiosynchratic swing and tend to do things my own way. When I'm good I'm a decent golfer but when it goes bad it tends to do so in dramatic fashion. No half measures.

Well up till last month I'd have said that my short game (50 yards in) was the best part of my game but it seems to have gone on holiday without me for a while. Now almost every part of my game is okish, nothing special and relatively average!!

I can't honestly imagine any golfer playing the game even remotely in a similar fashion to me so I'll say that I'd like Ernie's tempo, Goosen's calmness, Tiger's killer instinct, Seve's invention and Howeller's putting.

I doubt any pro golfer could have a game like mine...so that bit is ruled out. :rolleyes:

I rarely get in trouble and plan my way around the course very carefully...I suppose in the way Nick Faldo used to play. If I'm playing a 307 yard hole, I want to hit the ball 207 +/- 5 yards to leave either a PW or GW. I don't play risky shots and quite often hit more greens and fairways than my h'cap would suggest. Steady and straight....as long as the swing holds up. No desperate weaknesses, but then again no strengths...it's easy to be straight when you're short. :)

My driving and my putting is working well at the moment, everything else is a little below par and is very much work in progress.
I wouldnt ever see myself even close to any professional though I do try to keep my swing wide like Tigers' and patience round the greens like Tom Watson, whatever will be will be.

(for what its worth, I always have a crack at the shorter par 4's, four is a good score :D

Driving is usually my strong point, but just recently my chipping around the green has been getting me more up and downs than ever before, so well pleased.
Golfer I'd like to play with most is Seve.

I'm a bit like Clarke, whenever he can be bothered he's good. whenever I can be bothered I'm bothered. My short game keeps me sain. The driver can behave, but you know how that can end up. Irons should be better but there you go we can't have everything!

If I'm playing a 307 yard hole, I want to hit the ball 207 +/- 5 yards to leave either a PW or GW.

A bit different to my mentality, if I was in that position id be going for the green.
But then even so i'd still walk off with a par :)

You are very kind.

Interesting to note, the holes I birdie the most at mine are
9th = 320 = 3 wood/GW
15th = 310 = 5 wood/PW
16th = 302 = 5 wood/SW or GW

If I went for the green, it'd be a disaster. I'd like to take the big stick but I rarely do. I'm sure your method produces lots of birdies as well!! :)

No golfer plays like me and I don’t think I play like any other. I just don’t know how I’m going to play from one day to the next. Went round in 26 putts, done a couple of 27s and 28s, then I’ve 3 putted every other green to single putt the others. Hit the ball bad and scored well, scored bad and hit the ball well, hit the ball bad and scored embarrassingly bad. Drive great and cant hit an iron, hit great irons and drive real bad. Hit 33 and 34 in the first 9 to then blow it in the back 9…or visa versa. Start with an 8 to still break 80, hit 4 double bogie sixes to still break 80. Recorded some really good scores and, looking back, I don’t know how the hell I done it. Out of the top three comps at Royal Musselburgh I finished in the top ten and it really surprised me when I seen the results, considering the amount of category one players there.

Only one player plays like me………me.

Without a shadow of a doubt the best part of my game is my driving. This season my longest drive so far has been 370 yards on a 385 yard par 4. The last time I played I only missed one fairway.
My approach play and short game is woeful!!! It's a complete gamble where my irons end up and when I'm around the green - well, a rapist has a better touch than me!!! No confidence at all which costs me a huge amount of shots. I need help really - maybe I'll invest during the dark months...... :rolleyes:
Not too sure which pro has a rubbish iron game...... :o

My best bits are from 120 meters in, I nearly always put it on the green and am getting it much closer that last year. I must confess that I have been putting in the hours at the practice area so that has been the key to my success.
I'm not like any pros-i'm too inconsistent.

Ball striking is always reliable, i'm usually on or around the greens in a couple, but I putt with the touch of a baby elephant, hence a 16 h'cap.

My driving is the best part of my game so far which is surprising because i am new to golf. I played friday and nearly every time i got the driver out i was hitting it 220/230 yeards and finding the fairway. I wish the rest of my game was as good then i would be a reasonable golfer.
