Your First Handicap

What was it? How long were you playing till you put your 3 cards in?

I've only been playing 3 month and my course wants me to put my cards in so I can start playing comps. I'm just interested to see what other's got when they first got their handicap.

If it was me I would wait. I didnt want to play comps until I though I was at a standard good enough to keep up with reasonable players. I waited about a year and got, I think 16 or so. Even after that I got the bandit label as I came down quite quick.

just joined up at a club about 4 weeks ago, eventually got my 3 cards in and was given a 15 hc. Played in 1 comp so far and didnt play too well so went up 0.1.. My aim is to get to at least 14 by end of the year if not 13!!

I think i got 14 ..was playing full golf for about 6 months but had played alot of competitive pitch & putt .. & played alot of par 3 golf . guess it was just the next step up .. What i do remember was the handicap sec of the club ringing me to tell me & he congratulated me for such honest cards , he then invited me to play my first "REAL" comp with him the following saturday or sunday which ever suited me .. he introduced me around after the game to the captain , lady captain, the bar man etc .. thought it was a very nice thing for him to do .. luckily i played exactly to my new handicap that day..

no, 28 was my 1st h/c, just been cut to 27.2 from last comp
