I made a pretty nice eagle at Murph's place the other week which was 3 perfect shots in a row.
Don't think I've ever managed 3 perfect shots in a row. Probably not even two, tbh.
When I was a teenager, the first time I played a major comp I managed to hit a 3I to within two feet on the par 5 5th, leaving my first ever tap in birdie ( I missed the putt )
In my 20s I played a truely serious strokeplay with a mate for money off scratch ( He was an ex single figures guy, I was an ex 17 handicapper ). Level going down the 15th. He was just off the back in two, I had hacked out of the rough to about 125yds for two. I played an 8I to within 3 inches for a par - he took 3 to get down. He couldn't shake it off and I beat him easily over the last few holes.
Don't remember any great shots in my time at Park Wood, where I played for a few years in my 30s - God I was dull in those days.
This year I've had several which will be stored for years, only time will tell which was the best :
My 5W from 190 yards on the 16th at Chartham Park during my first ever forum meet. Sunk the putt as well, which was nice. Shame about hitting my drive into the drink first, though.
A 6I over the top of the trees to a raised green at Smiffy's pad went down well, as well ( Possibly the 14th
I managed a perfect draw with my 3W off the tee on the 14th at Copthorne as a one off. Slight dog leg with OOB down the left which knackers my natuaral slice. Even managed to outdrive James for the only time ever ( he took a six iron to make sure he didn't run out of fairway, but that's not the point
And finally my drive on the 3rd at Eastbourne Downs during a quick skive 9 holer last week. I haven't hit a great drive all year. Not one. Having hit 3W off the first two tees, I tried a change of plan. Hitting into the sun, I didn't see it come down, but it felt good. Couldn't find it on the fairway, having spent a couple of minutes looking for it, I couldn't be bothered to look for longer, or go back to play another, so I marched down the fairway towards the next tee. And suddenly there it was - a good 30 yards further forward than where I was looking. I paced it out to be in the 270 - 280 yard bracket. Ok so it was a tad downhill, and the wind was definately behind, so it would probably have just about been a 240- 250 drive without the extra help. But I don't care. It was straight and long ( enough
