All in medal play, years ago, 66 when I was a cocky wee git.
Lately, 73 at Dunbar off all the back tees, three under for the first 9 as well......pooped myself.
Royal Musselburgh, just a couple of weeks ago, 73 blows with 3 bogies in the last 5 holes.
No bad for 60 years young.

102 on a 72 par course. Best round was a 92 on a 62 par course. Not good enough :-(

Best ever was a 67. Unfortunately it was on a par 68 course (Aberdour) in 2004. Never come anywhere close since.

So after a couple of days there's less than 20% of golfers keen enough to join and contribute to a golf forum that have broken 70, with several of those being on courses with a par of less than 70 (not taking any credit away!)
Considering most have said this is the best round they've played or something similar, there's probably less than 5-7% who have broken 70 a few times.
So, the results of the crudely put together survey is that breaking 70 is surely out of reach for any novice golfer to achieve within a year. Even more so if they wanted to do that consistently! Out of the 80 people responded, 66 have never broken 70 and within those 66 are some good single figure handicappers ... Although I'm sure there's a few (myself included) hoping to increase the number of sub 70 shooters by the end of the year :thup:

. 72 at Reading in the last competition I played there. Only good enough for second place.

Shot 65, 72 back in 1997, then a 73 in 2010 and this year a 72 ... All in medals, but mainly I shoot 88s and save the good ones for nice trophies 
... Or just get fed up of playing like a twit and just push it round like seasoned hand. ( forgot to mention no membership between 1998 and 2009)

Best round in a comp was a 78 at my previous clubs par 68 course.
Best round in a bounce game was on Monday at my current course, gross 76 off the whites
Let's hope the form holds, got the Prison Service Scratch Championship at my place on Monday.
