Winning a Centenary 4BBB comp with one of my best mates is up there

Wasn't bad was it mate? A day when we both just "clicked" and I don't think either of us played a really bad shot all the way round.
Another one for me was my first ever visit to Bearwood Lakes with Paul Nash, his brother Dave and my old mate Norman.
Norman and I took the brothers Nash on and it was nip and tuck all the way round, with Norman halving the match on the 18th with one of the most outrageous birdies I have ever witnessed.
Great company, great weather, great course, great result. It couldn't have been better.

Winning the h/c devision of our club champs in 2014. Good course management and smart play saw nett -6/-6 over two days. I'm not the greatest under pressure but going into day two joint leader and posting the same score stress free is where I want my golf this season.

Watching my son get his first professional win in very trying circumstances. He'd just lost his favourite grandad. He went on to retain the trophy the following year.

Also, caddying for him in the final Open qualifier at Hillside. Standing on the practice ground with him and some top pro's was awesome.

Playing Carnoustie last year, A promise I made to myself for my 50th. Holed out for birdie out of a bunker on 5, an impossible shot, and hitting the green on the par 3 13th off the tee with the green surrounded with about eight green keepers who had been checking something at the hole in preparation for the following weeks Dunhill. A smile on my face a mile wide as they ALL congratulated me on my shot. (I thought I'd holed it my heart raced like I've never experienced before).

Couple things from last year -

First, won a scratch board comp at my club, 36 holes over two days, shot 76 on the Saturday, 1 shot back, played in last group on the Sunday, birdied first hole to tie the leaders. Ended up shooting another 76 to win by 1.

Secondly, final of the scratch matchplay. On paper i would have been favourite - opponent was off 7 at the time, me off 5. Again 36 holes, unfortunately it wasn't his day and capitalised as much as i could, Winning 12&10.

Junior club match, I hadn't been told I was playing and so turned up at the very last minute, and was awful for a few holes. I then proceeded to chip in twice and have 5 birdies in all. But the best part was, having been told that I had to win my game for us to win the match (and be promoted) I holed a putt the length of the last green for the win, must have been >60ft.

there has been a few .
winning the ifield foursomes way back when.
winning every match against other teams one year with same partner,
winning club champs [only second comp ever played at new course]shot -8 nett
shooting my first sub 80 round ,75
shooting my first sub par round -1 [only nine holes though]
winning my match on the last green to get to the next round of a team event ,i needed a birdy and managed to hole a ten footer ,the cheer that went up surprised the hell out of me ,i was so engrossed in my game i hadnt noticed the rest of both teams had walked up greenside to watch the outcome .
i didnt need to buy a drink that day.
but all those days and feelings can never replace all memories of playing with my dad.

First time I shot handicap golf (handicap was set at the max of 24 & I was nowhere near it to begin with)

It happened on my birthday with my wife going round the course with me just made it more special (I'd scored 7 points when I first played that course the year before so it felt like a huge achievement)

Had a few even though I am now officially the worst golfer on the forum.

Wining the club champs at my old golf club, winning the LUGC Rita Hurst team salver as the Captain of the club was a real highlight as we had so few members at that stage.

Overall the best highlight so far has to be when I played a full round with my son and my two stepkids at the Ashbury golf hotel in Devon, took them for 5 days and we all played together each day, great times.

Holing in one at Moortown on the signature hole on a golf weekend with my mates who I've known for about 40 years. Some were in my 4 ball and some were watching me from the next tee.

Got cheered all the way from the tee to the green. Still can't quite believe it happened, especially when you see the quality of my golf game as anywhere vaguely near the green would have been fine with me. Got a free Ping putter out of it as I wrote into a golf mag and it made story of the month. Safe to say it will always be the best golf shot I will ever hit and pretty much the perfect hole in 1.

Winning the H4H at West Hill

A great course, with great company and probably one of my best ever rounds. I missed one putt but otherwise hardly put a foot wrong. More importantly was the significance of the day and the charity it was for, and the genuine kindness of the forum members who are always brilliant at meets.

Chris, I was privileged to play with you for the 1st time that day, I too thought that you didn't put a foot wrong, I also thought something else about you along the lines of where are his six guns and sombrero , you played a great round that day my old mate, I'm glad its up there for you.

Finishing birdie-birdie in the second round of our 36 hole Captains Final for a 1 under gross (off 7 at the time). Only came second but I wasn't to know that at the time and to finish under pressure after a long, long days golf was the best I've ever felt on a golf course.

To play for 'Team Nike' and win the Pro-Am at last year's Scottish Seniors Open.
The icing on the cake though was getting a handshake and a nod of approval from both Mark James and Sam Torrance when we collected our prizes.

Boyhood dream stuff !!

Probably my first ever scratch team match. The format was 5x foursomes in the morning then 10x singles in the afternoon. Myself and another newbie where put out first as the sacrficial lambs against their No1 pairing in an attempt to get some points on the board in the morning. My match went to the 20th after they birdied the 18th to square the match.

At lunch we were 4-1 down.

I won my match :)

I've had a lot of good moments in the last few years but, when I think it through, I have to go back in the mists of time for the best.

My dad died ten years ago this year, before I got back into golf and started taking it seriously so he never saw me actually being any good at the game. My best moment came in a game with him when I must have been in my early or mid teens. On a short, dogleg par 4 I had hit my drive on the fairway and was left with a nine iron (I think) to the green by hitting over a bit of a gorge. The green was at a lower level than us so we got a good view and I could see there was a big slope left to right to the pin so it was obvious I had to play left of the pin to allow the slope to take it. I hit it pure and watched as it pitched exactly where intended, took the break and went into the hole - the first time I ever holed out a full shot. Cue much cheering, dancing and high-fiving! :)

Sadly I don't have terribly many clear memories of golfing with him - a lot of memories flow into each other, a generic but non-specific recollection of golfing with my dad, but that one is clear and makes me smile now thinking about it.

Won the June stableford last year in my first year as a member...pales into insignificance compared to some of these awesome feats, feel daft even typing it out :)
