Whats the best or most satisfying achievement you have made in golf?

I shot my first GIR the other day, which was the best feeling ive had in ages (bit sad i know).

an 82 which was 15 under handicap, shame it was just a social round as I would have loved the digs if in a comp.

Right up there was my TM fitting with GM @ Wentworth, not an achievement as such but something that will remain fondly in the old grey matter :)

Many years ago I took on the position of Junior Organiser at a previous club. At the time the position was perceived to be a poisoned chalice, with little love lost between members and juniors. There were rules like, juniors weren't allowed in the clubhouse if a full member wasn't there, and juniors weren't allowed to play in many of the competitions.

The number of issues to resolve was immense... I could write reams of the number of initiatives I started.

Within 5 years they'd won the district junior team knockout twice, and within 10 years the club won a very prestigious team knockout, half the team being made up of young men who had been juniors previously... to cap it, my son an ex-junior was pro there at that time.

I won a Medal years back that was a qualifier for the Lombard Trophy.
It was a Pro-Am held at Enfield and the winners went onto the Finals in Spain.
We finished 5th on count back and just out of the prizes but the highlight for me was early into the back 9..
The Pro hit a 3 iron off the tee - we were both using TopFlite Tour irons - and I followed with my 4 iron.
My 4 flew 20 yards past the Pros 3 and he reckoned he flushed it!!
That, along with winning the best Eclectic Medal score 2 years running....

Like Hobbitt.

I started a junior golf section/system from scratch that with the help of a fine handful of members progressed to produce five English International players including five Golf Foundation Age group British Champions. Brabazon and British Boys Champions and a Walker/Ryder Cup player.
Pleased to say it is still going strong 30 years after starting

It just goes to show that it doesn't have to be yourself that is the beneficiary, and doing something amazing for other people, can give you more pride.

Well done both.

Last year I was asked to organise the Tuesday night roll up by the vice captain.
I introduced hazard fines, after reading it on here somewhere, which worked really well and everyone chucked their winnings back in to the charity. Over the summer we raised well over £300 and all had a great evening each week.

This year I've been told I'm doing it again by the captain and everyone who took part last year. We are hoping to get a lot more people involved as the people who played last year enjoyed it so much and have been telling other members how good it was.

Not done anything of note in medals/comps but last summer I played a bounce game with a friend and shot gross 4 under (68 on a par 72) . I managed to get to the turn in 3 under which was unheard of for me (don't usually get too many birdies) , but what pleased me most was how I managed to keep it together and get round the back 9 without blowing up and completely messing my score up.

I managed to get thru 8 holes at East renfrewshire gc last year at 1 under and when somebody mentioned it to me on the 9th tee I proceeded to put 2 into the farm off the tee and that was the end of that score . So keeping the round going this time was a major improvement.

I play off 8 so definitely a bit of a freak score for me, think my best before that was 4 over at the Glen gc in east Lothian early last year.

I'm hoping you mean for all 18? if so thats a great achievement:thup: score?

Most satisfying was 3 consecutive rounds on a tough-ish course all under par. No practice putting, just lined up from behind the hole, addressed the ball, 1 look and bam! they went in from everywhere. -10 for 54 holes. wheres that feeling now:(

Best achievement for me was breaking 80 for the first time ever, shooting 79 in a practice round with mates a couple of weeks back.

just need to do it in a comp now........

That's more than an achievement, that is a legacy and something you should be hugely proud of

You know JAS is Captain this year?

One of the funniest things I remember from that era was when one of the girls was being interviewed on HTV after winning the British age groups. She was quite a gal who was also a Judo black belt.
The interviewer said something like. 'You went through three qualifing stages and then beat the best players of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, that must have been really tough?
'Naw not really she replied [she won by many shots] The toughest part was beating my pal [my daughter] in the club qualifier.'

3 hole in ones , I lost a play off to win the 72 hole medal off 5 in the Bournemouth Open in 2005 otherwise that would have been it , Beating the Dorset County Stroke Play champion in the Beckford bowl afternoon singles and our team winning 8-7 and winning every round thereafter to make the Beckford Bowl Team final in 2011 , It was a fantastic achievement for a small club like Knighton Heath with only 14 cat 1 golfers at the time , in the semi final we beat Hayling Island , our combined handicap for 10 golfers was nearer 50 while HS was near 15 and note this is a scratch comp , it was a great team feeling all year even if we did lose the Final . lastly Winning the Southern Region HDID Seniors matchplay competition with my Partner and the prize was a week in the Algarve playing in the golf finals all paid for .........................................EYG

Winning the H4H at West Hill last year.

Not only for the result, but for the privilege of holding one of the most poignant trophies in golf and the thought that my name with always be on it! I did play some of my best ever golf that day, played in great company and on a course I'd die to be a member of!

not thought that through

Congrats on the GIR open the floodgates and keep them coming.

My best achievement is not really my own. A client last year had trouble with putts inside 10 foot, he played off three at 61 year old amazing ball striker but could not hole them. We worked together for a couple of months and he won his county senior amateur title holing pretty much everything.

One of the best feelings of my life
