Your Best Golf Achievement

My best achievement was a one under gross in 1999, when I was 20 years old.

I was at university at the time which meant a LOT of time off over the Summer and a LOT of golf played. I was close-ish a number of times with a few +2 and +3 scores, but just couldn't quite play to par. Then, towards the back end of the summer, the stars aligned and I shot the one under gross.

This was off the yellow tees, not the whites. Also, we were behind a couple of fourballs, so jumped from the first hole to the fourth hole to get past and avoid interrupting their game by playing through. When I finished the 18th (16 holes in total), I was level par… so we went and played holes 2 and 3 to complete the 18, and I played them 1 under gross.

So… not off the whites… and a dubious order of holes played… but, for me at least, it counts! It's perhaps my best achievement, let alone my best golfing achievement!

My first hole hole in 1 was a slam dunker, straight through the plastic bottom of the hole from 155 yards.
Same year won the London schoolboys and our junior cup
Had 18 straight pars in a comp
Had 18 straight 4's in a comp

But all 30 years ago!

Making birdies on the last six holes during a bounce game last year. No flukes either, hit the green and holed the putts. Just wish I could do it in a medal.

Winning the Gwylim Jones cup with 41 points last summer after only just deciding to continue playing golf. I had played a medal a month before and finished with 124 or something similar and almost quit.

Winning Captains Day at my last club 6 years ago when I was off 16, I had just got back into golf after a long time away and shot a gross 75 on a par 70 course, I was a bandit off 16. Sponge1980 I was just wondering how your greatest Golf Achievement wasn't meeting John Daly?

In recent memory I guess it would be winning my handicap section at the GM Centenery qualifier at St Pierre and then finishing runner up overall (and handicap winner). The fact that the good lady wife was around for both events meant I could share the good times. Perhaps she is my lucky charm!! Not sure how she'd take being dragged round the Heath of Dreams every weekend just in case

Gota Be winning the Golf Monthly Centenary Final

I was lucky enough to win the Irish Craic Classic in 2011 and qualify for the final in Forrest Of Arden , managed a win there aswell
did alot for my game winning both them comps , got great confidence from them

EDIT , Snap Homer was just typing at same time you were posting

A few stick out:

Being involved with this amazing bunch of forum people on here to help raise over £38,000 for HFH over the last 4 years.

Finally achieving CAT 1 status in 2013 ( just got to get back down there now!)

Captaining the clubs scratch team in 2013 and finishing 3rd in the team OOM

Shooting a level par gross round in a medal on Sept 30th 2009

Have to be my first ever eagle at a course I used to play at whilst I was a student in Leeds (Bracken Ghyll GC). In fact saying that, I think getting 18 months worth of golf for only £120 via the Student Memberhsip has to be my best golfing achievement!

Two club championships were very nice.
Six honours board wins in same year, also nice. (Although the groans at presentation when I kept going up got a bit boring! :))

However my best achievement was finishing 3rd in a County Event. All the big boys were in the field and, on a brutally tough day, played some of my best ever stuff to miss the play off by one.

Like Slab - walking off the 18th for the first time with the same ball I started with and .....breaking 100 the first time.
And...... on our par 3 last hole, in a comp, getting the ball within a foot of the hole for a tap in in front of a gallery, none of whom knew I had just played my worst round of golf since I started.

No mention of the 7 rounds with the Skoda ball.
