You can now win an Olympic Gold Medal in......

I'd actually do away with the Olympics. It had it's time....and was great up until maybe 40 years ago (my opinion) and has slid steadily since. It was such hard work (50+ years ago) to bring people from around the world together every 4 years with the travel difficulties etc....now....pretty easy for most countries/individuals. I'd just have each sport hold their own world champs every year. Some sports are a lot more popular of course and would get more attention, but that's the way it is normally. I still can't believe they put golf in....there are plenty of big events for the golfers. I think events like synchronized swimming is pretty amazing, and they are tough as nails.....but.....how many people actually do this? Maybe they should include skydiving with the goal to see how close you can get to the ground before opening their chute.......could be a grim sport. Bocce ball.....now there is a sport!!

The logistics of moving/holding only one sport would make holding these events a LOT easier.

If they are going to keep holding the Olympics, I would spread it out over more time......maybe 4 weeks and only hold it in cities that already have the facilities.....it's becoming stupid how much it costs the hosting country to put this on.

I think they should simplify the American tax system as well.....nobody listens to me...

Many people seem to miss the point that the Olympics is now as much about bringing people together and trying to use sport as a positive influence. Adding minority sports to the Olympics provides massive exposure to those sports and may entice people to try them.

Break dancing is far more entertaining and athletic than some of the sports already in the Olympics.

I don't understand the swimming point. You are given a distance, a style of stroke and then the winner is the one who completes the swim in the fastest time. It's the equivalent of running around a track. There is nothing subjective there, it is fastest wins.

Weightlifting, heaviest weight lifted base on class? Questionable due to the number of failed drugs tests in recent Olympics so there is a case for dropping that.

Wrestling, I don't know how it is marked but do you win by throws? If it's clear, it stays in, if like boxing it goes.

Boxing - Agree, subjective so drop it.

There are quite a few we go through which could be dropped to be fair.

Thats all the running and cycling events in danger too then ;)

Break dancing is a joke Olympic event. I would rather that they put in Parkour. At least you can time that from A to B.

Ok, so:

Weightlifting - firstly why weight classes, a 160kg man will lift more than the 60kg man, why bother with anything but the guy lifting the most? It's also happened before where a weight class isn't popular the heavier class winner actually lifts less than the lighter class winner, usually with the heavyweight women, but also noticeably in the mens old 94kg and 105kg classes before a load of totals got removed for retroactive doping failures. Secondly you have to lift following the techniques of the snatch and then clean and jerk (simmer down kids!), but people could lift more if they could continental clean and press, or basically just use whatever it takes to get the weight overhead. So we are not actually seeing the biggest weights lifted, just those that successfully pass approval from the judges for being done with a certain technique.

Wresting - Same with weight classes, but also you have to follow the rules in terms of not being able to grab your opponent below the waist (again calm down class!), trip them etc.. If 2 warriors were fighting the one that would win in a real fight isn't necessarily the one who would win in a wrestling match where your methods of attack and defence are limited.

Swimming - Why bother with any stroke than freestyle? You have to swim x distance the quickest, oh bu you have to use a technique that we know isn't the quickest, basically on par with race walking, it's an arbitrary rule that doesn't allow for the best performance in the task of covering the distance specified (on land or water) in the fastest way possible.

That said if we are banning sports if the competitors take drugs, then we can save time and just blanket ban any professional sport, admittedly some are worse than others, but no sport at that level will be "clean". The biggest irony is that the sports that do the most to remove doping - e.g. actually catch people testing positive get labelled as dirtier than the sports that let people get away with it.

I presume you have watched enough competitive Breaking to come to that opinion?

Maybe they should remove all events that weren't included in the original Olympic event.
