Medal round today, in which I shot a 1 over Gross Front 9, followed by a 6 over back 9, resulting in a 75 Nett 65, (CSS69), which has seen me drop from 10 to 9.2, finally reaching that magic Single figures, and achieving my target for the year  :D

2nd on Countback to another 65 too, but I couldnt care less, Ive done it finally !!

Pressure's off now in some ways, I can just try and carry on playing good golf and see what happens, who know's.

Chuffed to bits !!

I may be a high handicapper that you would prefer not to play with :D but let me be one of the first to congratulate you!

Well done,

Golfmmad.

Well done chris keep up the hard work, what was you off at the start of the season?

Well Done Chris
Now keep it going and sort that back 9 out!!
You'll be off 5 in no time if you can - its always the back 9 with you innit?

Thx Golfmmad

I was 11 at season start, well 11.4 to be precise, and slipped up to 12 for a short while.

Ian - you're right, but its a tough 9, it starts with Stroke 1, a Par 4 450yds, followed by a Par 4 430yds, and then a real tough Par 3 sunken green.
13 & 14 are ok, and then the last 4 are tight too, and include the hardest hole on the course, a Par 4 469yd'er, to a tight green.

Just the last 4 that did me with 4 Bogey's, but by then, I couldnt help maybe protecting the card to a degree.

A footnote too to all of you struggling with Driver's, as I have been this year,.... I didnt use mine once today, stuck with a faithful 3Wood, and being on the short stuff more often helped me enormously.

As someone who agonisingly missed out on his goal (getting to 10 - finished 11.1) I'm impressed that you managed to achieve yours. Well done for the hard work ALL season and hopefully it'll continue downwards.

Thx fella's :)

As for how low can I go......2 trains of thoughts....

1. It could be a pinnacle, and a slow relentless of 0.1's to come.....
or, and what I hope......
2. Pressure is off now, and I can start start to really work on my shortgame which I havent yet really done, and perhaps another shot or 2 to come off.

At 47, I dont realistically expect to get stupidly lower, I'm just well chuffed to have got to Single's after playing for 20yrs.
I feel like a 'Golfer' now.

JustOneUk: our course is a Par 68, CSS69 (usually).

1 Par 5, 5 Par3's, and some long tough Par 4's. Nobody ever burns it up, even the Pro's in the ProAm, I think -2 won it this year, and that was after 36holes.

Here's the Card: http://www.brough-golfclub.co.uk/the-course.asp

The Par3's are key, play them well and you might have a good card, but with 3 of them playing nearly 200yds off Whites, its a task.

Well done Chris, I hope to join you by the end of next summer.

I can imagine the feelings and self-pride are better than winning a comp.

I hoped I was going to hit my target of 15 in todays medal - 16.4 at the mo (down from 24 in March when I started playing). Todays was a solid round - no 7s! 88 nett 72 and if CSS is 73 as it tends to be, I might get a 0.3 cut down to 16.1... Not quite there, but I'm pretty chuffed with what I've acheived. Single figures will be my next target - congrats for getting there - must have been really tough!

Well done Chris. I'm saving another sleeve of Pro Vs as a prezzie should I ever make it up to yours. :)

Got to say.....the website looks very good and the course beautifully presented on the pictures. There is a picture that appears every time I click on a new hole (above the hole info) that shows a (bunkerless) green at the end of a sort of valley. How nice does that look! :)

This one?

Well done Chris.

I have also reached my goal this year having come down from 17 to 11.8, (goal was 12 ). Funny thing is I believe I'm capable of more having shot a few mid 70's rounds.

Will keep pluggin away, next years target is def single figures.

Well done again.

Congrats and good luck with the new target.
i set a target of 15, started off 19.4, got down to 13.3 a few weeks ago but unfortunately have moved out to 13.9.

Congratulations on reaching single figures. It was a goal that I had set myself at the beginning of the season but not playing enough qualifying competitions has seen that turn to dust. Not playing consistently enough so only myself to blame really.
That course of yours really does look the dogs danglies
;)

Thx fella's.

yes thats the 12th, a tough Par 3 that plays 199 off the Whites, to a sunken green with much undulation all around......my bogey hole to be honest.

Some lovely pics on the website if you click on each hole, and for the most part, it looks like that all summer, particularly when we get a summer of regular rain.
