XFactor .. YESSS

I always wondered about the IQ of those voting for the tango'd karaoke singer!

Trouble is there is always an act (Jedward, Wagner, Maloney etc) that people vote for because they think that they are sticking it to Simon Cowell. They forget that Cowell wins no matter what and the money from calls every week makes him more in 7 days than the record contract costs him.

Yep - very true and sadly the "artists" start to think they're good!

Granted, some of the acts might be able to sing to a reasonable pub singer level, however, the program has had its day and is utter pap. Please ITV spare us from more of this drivel. How could they use up 4 hours of airtime over the weekend?

12 of the finalists were 'Invited to take part in the show'. This shows that it is a fix from the start, these, so called, contestants are known well before the audition stage and are going through regardless which makes a complete mockery of the audition stages. I cottoned on a long time ago to the fact that the only winners from these shows are Simon Cowell and his cohorts. He is a genius though as folk still fall for the format time after time. I cannot stand to hear Louis Walsh constantly touting the 'We need your votes' card. I genuinely believe people forget that voting costs money which goes directly to Simon Cowell.

care to share your evidence, very interested

I did google it and there's something on the BBC web I think (got the voting stats from there). It did say there were invites and Jahmene and I think the funny girl who quit early on were two of them. The judges weren't aware of who was who though allegedly so the selection process from audition onwards was the same for everyone.

My mother in law voted three times.... (insert mother in law joke here) however she is also the M.D. of a very reputable business......hmmmm

Actually after I posted that I thought it was a bit of music snobbery and everyone is entitled to enjoying whatever they enjoy I guess. His voice was good but something about him I just didn't like - the nerves etc etc seemed a bit put on...

The rules of the forum prevent me from giving my true opinion of this pap, but what drives me mad is everyone who is sucked in by it thinks that you are interested as well and gives you the complete run down every Monday morning even though I was more interested in the contents of the toilet bowl last time I flushed it. Somebody asked earlier what ITV could fill 4 hours of their weekend schedule with that would be better, my suggestion would be the test card. End Transmission!

Ive been given an explanation that may (or may not) explain the 'missing' 7% voting figures..........for those who have the slightest interest........Im told that when voting shuts Sat night for the final 3, as amanda said, maloney had 16% or so, he was kicked out, in 3rd place............NOW THEN, when voting reopens, there are now only 2 choices, but votes for the Final, prior to Sat night voting closure still count, so therefore any votes for the Final 2 contestants will reduce Maloneys vote percentage for the total final voting, thus he (MALONEY) has now gone from 16% sat night, to 7% sun night...............is this making any sense...???

Thanks Amanda, I see it was just a way of marketing the show due to the many talent shows out there, basically drumming up business, but none were guaranteed to get through and many of the 'informed' invitees didnt get through.

The show definitley needs a revamp and spruce up to make it interesting again.

Bring back 'Don't forget your toothbrush'

Read it 3 times and yes I think so! There was never a 100% split on the Sunday but voting over both nights counted...so Maloney's % dropped relative to the total over both nights. Yep - got it!!

I agree it needs a spruce up of sorts as I always enjoy it but the past couple of years have debated watching something else but not into Strictly and just find X Factor easy background viewing. I'm not a fan of reality TV per se but do like it if those involved have to show some sort of talent and put that on the line. Masterchef is a favourite of mine.
