Looking at changing current Focus estate to one of the above as need some more grunt and space in the boot area, so 2-2.2 L engine, both swallow two sets of clubs and trollies easily and both have decent "toys" on top of the range.

Dont like the new X Trail so 14 plate is the latest year I'm looking at. Any of you good folks on the forum have one or know of someone who does to throw up any good and bad?

I'm on my second CRV, absolutely bulletproof cars. Loads of toys, plenty space and nice to drive. We looked at X Trail but far preferred the CRV.

Both good cars though 👍🏻
 
I've had both. I had an 03 X Trail from new that I put 140k on and loved it. I wanted to trade up to a newer X Trail but didn't like the build quality. I've now got an 08 CRV that I got at 12 months old and I've put 110k on. It's comfortably the best car I've ever owned. Forget the old duffer reputation. It's just a well put together, comfortable runner.
 
Hondas are very well built, Nissan are also good but Honda will be difficult to beat. I have had two, one a HRV that we had for 15 years without a problem.
 
Have a CRV, love it.

Looked at a Nissan but got put off by the local garage I use.

Never had one but like the Volvo xc's, when I choose to change may look at one of them.
 
I had the previous version of the x-trail. It was excellent. Great in the snow (I live on a Welsh hillside!), bags of room in the back and was good on long runs... 3 years, only in garage for routine servicing.

Didn't get the new shape as didn't like the look of it. (although admit it's growing on me) BUT was lent one for a weekend by the garage and have to admit it was pretty good - but lacked the toughness of the old one.

Bit like the Freelander and it's replacement... one looked like a Landy, the Disco Sport is a mess!

Can someone get me a Shogun that does 50 to the gallon? :D
 
Got the 1.6 Diesel CRV (14 plate). The reduced power isn't much of an issue. I test drove both engines. The 52 mpg is fab though. And the amount of stuff it swallows is brilliant. Lots of toys.
 
Thanks for all the replies, been round a few dealers over the weekend and the 1.6 Diesel CRv on a 15 plate is favourite now due to it's fuel economy and tax. Also has some decent toys and very roomy boot.

I've a 16 reg 1.6 Diesel and has plenty of power (for what I use it for!). Even loaded to the gills not sluggish on motorway down to Devon. Very impressed with it, liked my last one (older shape) but is a big step up :thup:
 
Right ho have now got a new vehicle and ended up with a Volvo XC 60 and it's awesome, by far the most comfortable car I've driven and a dream to drive.

Picked it up on Friday and off to Stockton on Tees for the weekend and sailed up the M6, as much as one can these days, purred over the Pennines . Stopping at brothers and for a 6' plus he fitted in the back no problem.Took 3 sets of clubs and two trollies easily to Seaton, then drove home this afternoon non stop , which for me is unheard off, just so comfortable.

Next test is towing work trailer and our "Shed" !!

Good choice. The seats are very comfortable while you are waiting for the AA to turn up.
