Played at West Hill on Monday with the Forum Group (good event chaps).

The practice putting green is near to the 18th green and is clearly marked as being in bounds as there were white stakes along the far side. My ball ended up on the practice green. Should I have dropped my ball off the practice green assuming it was a "wrong green" or played it as if it were "through the green"?

I moved it anyway as it was a friendly(ish) game and didn't want to upset the locals by hitting a wedge but I did wonder what I shouldhave done if it was a serious competition.

You were right to play it as a wrong green. It was not OOB and satisfies the definition of a putting green.

A "wrong putting green" is any putting green other than that of the hole being played. Unless otherwise prescribed by the Committee, this term includes a practice putting green or pitching green on the course.

Thats from the ‘definitions’. Looks like you were right to drop it off the green

So that is a "must" move rather than a "may" move, even if you were going to use a putter.
