Never enter 2's sweeps. I have enough golf balls anyway, which is what the prize normally is. Often have to wait until after the comp has finished, I could be long gone by then.

Once entered the 2's at a golf festival. Day 2 I had a 2. Day 3 I drove back to that course, before going onto the next course to play Day 3, to pick up whatever the prize was. Added after 4 miles to my trip. They presented me with a single Srixon Soft Feel ball.

I play in several opens and have booked quite a few this year. In the main I enter to play a new course or a course I like and I like playing competitive golf. Prizes are a bit of an afterthought and thinking back I’ve won one pairs open and one team open plus a third place in a senior pairs (with Crow) a couple of years ago. I must have played 50 opens in that time. The prizes are nice, but not the reason for entering.
This year I am entered at Silloth, Beau Desert and Burnham & Berrow plus around fifteen other opens. My reason for entering was purely to play the courses.
I think the winner(s) should get some recognition, but would happy for that to be a free meal after the round.
