...to deliberately submit three very high scoring cards so as to get a high handicap, to then make it easier to win competitions know that I could, say, normally shoot <10?

Why are you even asking the question?

I guess it would be.

Kind of the opposite I did to get my h'cap....I practised like mad and played with extra determination.

I wish I'd turned up hungover not having been to the range and started a stroke or two higher t.b.h.

Of course it would. Banditry is plain wrong, though it does happen.

If your plan is to get as low a handicap as possible, it's far easier to do when each shot less gives you 1 less on your handicap, than after it's received and each shot less gets you 0.4 max off.

How can you even imagine that this would be a good idea? :D

Wasn't this the guy who was going to cat2 for he's first handicap.......

Sounds like reality kicked in , welcome to the course tim, a bit different to the range isn't it :D

I hope this was an ironic question. Whilst you wouldn't break any rule of golf, it goes against the whole spirit of the game and to be honest will lose you al ot of friends and destroy your reputation very quickly. I know of it happening and the guy did become somewhat of a golfing pariah. Play the game with the integrity it deserves, try your hardest on all three cards and do your best to play to the figure you are given. If you do that and pick up a few wins no one will begrudge you, but "cheat" for want of a better term and pot hunt and ultimately you are cheating yourself. I know some who can live with that easily and to be honest they are the guys I wouldn't share a pitch and putt with let alone play a round with

Tim. Why would you want to win some Handicap club event, especially off a fake high H/C??

Get as low as you can as quick as possible and play some proper golf.
