Worst collateral damage you have had?

At aphrodite hills i was paired with random people. The cart paths there are mega steep and the genius infront thought he would scare his mate (who was driving the buggy i was in) by slamming his brakes on whilst going down a steep hill. Genuis no'2 who was driving with me couldn't stop in time as he was following too closely and smashed into the back of the cart! No damage to the carts but what do you keep at the back of golf carts??????? 28 smash and bent clubs! I continued the round solo

2nd hole of the Club Championships in '95 my PP hit 2 tee shots OB. The third one hits the Ladies Tee marker some 20 yards ahead, comes screaming back at him smacking on the ankle - breaking it in 2 places......

Guess it wasn't his day.....

I was hitting my shot into a green but the hole had a path down the centre of the fairway (Nefyn). Once the ball was in the air, a transit van came up from the pub. The ball smashed into the middle of the windscreen. One irate driver but the club said that he should not be down there.

i have had a few accidents over the years, put a ball through car windscreen as it was coming towards me (sherdley park) put a ball through a rear car window and ball ended up on the parcel shelf (again sherdley park),hook on the first at the old breadsall priory into the car park and hit 4 or 5 cars, but the best one i have witnessed was at a now closed down course in WIDNES,they had as a prize for an hole in one a FORD FIESTA someone thought it would be a great idea to park it in front of the first tee slighty to the right,it had 3 ball shaped bents in the passenger side and when one of the group i was with put a ball through the window with a sh**k,they decided to move it,to the other side of the tee !!!!

I once sliced a shot into the club car park and put a dent in a car's door skin. Fortunately (or unfortunately) it was my car!

I also once hit and killed a seagull in flight with my drive, and have also since hit and failed to kill a sheep and a Canada goose, although I expect they were a bit bruised. :mmm:

Caused a mini stampede at Belton Park (witnessed by GB72)
When a thinned hybrid drive struck a deer on the rump
Fortunately no harm done, but those deer don't half shift :)

Whilst playing...nothing really. When I first started playing I thinned a wedge on our 18th, and it headed towards the patio at a rate of knots (as it is right behind the 18th green). One of the "older" members in a mobility scooter was right in line with the ball's intended flight. The speed of what was happening, and the realisation of what could happen happened too slowly, meaning nothing could be screamed. As it happened, the ball suddenly dropped and hit a plant pot 2 yards in front of said member. He didn't flinch one bit.

Off the course, I sold a Cobra tour bag on eBay, but think I managed to leave a pair of custom built Oakley sunglasses I had purchased in Las Vegas in there as they have never been since.

My wife hit a seagull with a drive yesterday in the mixed open at Carrbridge - elevated tee, seagull standing in fairway, ball landed right on top of the bird -took at least twenty yards of roll and bounce off the drive - bird picked itself up and flew away.

I used to play Silvermere on the way home from work occasionally (as a change from Chartham Park) and the 18th was always played in Twilight - that can distort distances. I hit a 9 iron into the green but the guy I played the hole with picked the distance completely wrong and hit a 5 from 20 yards closer! As this was before the protection went around the patio, my subsequent scream of 'Fore!!!!' had a considerable effect - as did the ball as it rattled off the doors and around the tables!

Wow thats impressive. Im sure they have a glass wall up now to protect the bar area? Pretty sure thats a recipe for disaster

No damage but could have been. A while back someone thinned a wedge at the 18th and if flew past the pro, who was standing in the doorway of his shop and proceeded to ricochet around the shop. The ball was a few inches from his head as it flew past.

If the ball had then rolled back out of the door on to the green this would have been the best story ever.

One of our ex pro's used to whack his bag after a bad shot. A few years ago, after his round was over his mobile phone came out of the pocket of the golf bag in lots of little pieces.

At the GM forum meet last year at West Hill, I thinned the approach into the 18th. As it airmailed the green, past the patio.. I had a sinking feeling as it flew towards the large glazed windows. Sigh of relief as it hit the pillar between the windows and rolled back onto the green fringe.

Richart & co were watching from behind the window... who knows what could have happened if I managed to hit the window..

Couple of years back my tee shot on the 1st at Hindhead caused serious collateral damage to my pride. With rest of club team and opposition watching I smother-topped my tee shot about 15yds. It cleared the tee - sideways - ending up underneath a very nice bench positioned by the side of the tee. Fortunately the bench wasn't fixed and so could be moved to enable me to play my 2nd. I got a half in 5s but as you can imagine I was the butt of many comments as I left the tee and when I got in.

I have played Hindhead since but the thought of that tee shot takes a bit of putting to the back of my mind as I stand there on the 1st - once again - addressing the ball.
