Worried

The point about Sunningdale was that if you made a first visit in May, you may have been disappointed with the condition.....that doesn't change the quality of layout, design and the history. Course rankings are subjective, but reputable golf mags use people with some savvy on their panels, or why do it?

And, I've never heard of Druids Heath... (blooming southerners! :) )

One of loads of courses around Wallsall area. Luckilly I made the right choice on this. (This is not to say the others aren't as good in the area...with one exeption, also strangely in the top 100)

I've not put the price. Was Sunningdale craaaaap in August? I'll bet it wasn't! I paid £20 for a round on Monday, on the way back. They'd hollow tined the greens the week before and they were much better. In fact the whole course was MUCH BETTER!!!

That place was Druids Heath. Great interaction with the Pro on arrival. superb course!!!!!

TWENTY QUID!!!!

Now that place should be in the top 100 courses in place of the one that is. Just who decides this????? They're idiots !

Maybe the idiot, was the one who could have played Sunningdale instead, but chose to show the organiser a HUGE amount of disrespect.

Karma?

Yup, My first question when training new staff was 'Who is the most important person at a golf club'.
I used to get some very strange answers but never the right one.

The person who makes first contact with a new customer/member.
Could be a greenkeeper, caterer, caddy, cleaner etc etc.

Haven't you yourself also given the wrong answer? Surely the most important person at the golf club is the new customer/member. Or at least that is how they should feel.

Or even, 'the person stood in front of you, on the phone to you etc'.

It is one of those where everyone is right to an extent.

Now I know you're having a laugh!

It has been called many things but never, to my knowledge, a "superb course".

Good call, folk always extol the virtues of the Monterey Peninsular, the Melbourne Sand Belt and the M5/M6 Intersection! :ROFLMAO:

But, in all seriousness, if you had a bad experience at somewhere "well known." folk are genuinely interested in the whats and whys. Some might agree, some might disagree.

Wrapping this up the way you have, will get your leg pulled about it!

To be honest, if I read the review that was left by the OP on TripAdvisor, I would take it with a pinch of salt. No details, just a baseless rant. The OP seems to have had an issue before he went to the course and was almost looking for fault. Maybe it wasn’t as bad as he is making out and he just played badly🤔

Hmmm maybe, but after an experience at one place and then going to another and having such a vastly different (better) experience maybe made me a little over enthusiastic regarding the virtues of the second course. But in comparision between the two, the second was bluddy awesome. AND they had hollow tined their greens theweek previously and I maintain that they had the better of the two.

Yes, but if you only name one of the courses there is nothing to compare. I am also not sure if you are ranting about "customer service" experience, the course quality or both.

Its a bit like saying I have bottles of wine, one was £25 the other £5. The £5 one was better, but I won't tell you what they were so we can have a sensible discussion about the merits and demerits of either.

This thread starts with a post that you went into the "Offy" and the assistant wasn't very friendly, therefore the wine will be bad!

But, i hope you got the reaction you wanted from this thread! :) (and no offence intended - just relaying the impression I have got from this)

Why don't you apply to become a course reviewer then you can put forward some of the courses you think should be top 100?
