World Cup so far - tedium or terrific?

The French are unlucky to have played two good teams so far. Ok, Domenech has ruined them but they have enough good players in that squad to turn over most teams in the tournament; I think they'll beat South Africa with ease.
 
The French were absolutely pathetic last night.

It looked like a complete lack of effort.

Thankfully the tournament has picked up lately. Lets hope it continues to do so.
 
Nasri isn't anywhere near the three players he would conceivable replace in Ribery, Gourcuff and Malouda plus he'd played very little football this season due to injury.

Benzema was a massive mistake even after an average seasona t Real, as was Saha in my opinion who scores goals where he goes though of course injuries are an issue. Gignac has been a massive letdown and Govou isn't a great player anyway.

Anelka has never scored in a major tournament. :|
 
But the biggest problem is the coach. He is universally hated by the French public, and also his own team. Any other coach, given that selection of players, would be challenging the last 4, minimum. It looks to me like the players just don't want to play for him.
 
Can't disagree. I find it strange that they've already arranged to replace him after the WC. I'd have had Blanc in before hand if I was the French FA.
 
Dont agree with the Nasri thing Ribery is good but he is short on product, Gourcuff is a good passer who likes his flicks a bit to much, but Malouda does look good though must have been Chelskis best player last season although he is very direct I think Nasri would give you something else.

Benzema suffered at RM as he did not play enough

Domenech has been the french manager for to long about 4 years to long its good this is his lst tournement
 
just listening to that *** shearer, another freeloader on our licence money, and not did not know that the german forward had the record for the most headers ever in world cup finals. another point to back up a previous comment, that if they are expert pundits, they should try and do some home work and find out about the teams they are passing comment on, at least motsen knew about who he was commentating on.
why do we have to put up with ex scouse players or other such numpties, why cant we have interesting people with a sound knowledge of other teams. :mad:

I agree with everything you say about the pundits.

But I think you can take it pretty much as a done deal that Motty has spent the last 20 years solidly finding out more outrageously useless facts than anyone else on the planet.

I just wish they'd get a decent commentator in , and just leave him miked up in the corner rambling away. Much more fun.

no, start with 11 but for every 10 minutes without a goal take one off each side - with the player to be removed drawn at random by the 4th official.

highlight so far - France getting beaten by Mexico (at least they seem interested)
 
i only used motty as an example, but at least he makes an effort unlike most of the nobs that turn up and say england will win the world cup or euro,s in which ever year, when we are mediocre at best, and when a foreign team play half sensible, they havent a clue who they are talking about, and no doubt there will be hundreds out there at great expence.
i just what to see some different people, with an interest in football, not just in-ger-land :mad:

Not only are Germany losing 1-0 and with only 10 men, Podolski has just missed a penalty! Or should I say the keeper saved it. Podolski is IMHO, one of the best strikers of a ball, but his effort was easily saved. On top of all that he's German :D :D

Come on Serbia :D

Best strikers :D :D he is actually Polish the same as Klose is.

Yes, it's surprising that a few of the greman squad are non-germans. Things can't be right when poles are playing for them AND singing the national anthem.


I actually think that it is starting to warm up. Decent games today, no doubt brought back to tedium with England. I so want to believe that they will do well AND play decent football but have seen toooo many false dawns to get too excited just yet
