We all have our down periods in the game and frankly this year has seen me playing like a donkey from the off. I can't remember a truly decent score for 6 months....but that all changed today.
I was playing in our work's annual outing at Gullane No.2 in sweltering heat (the head under my hat is white as snow, the rest is purple now!) and scooped the prize of a great trophy, a dozen balls and £50 worth of American Golf vouchers. Wayhay. Worth the wait.
42 stableford points (25 for the front nine- a personal record, I think). 27 other competitors. The runner-up was on 36 points, so I may not be asked back.
Dead chuffed with my scoring. I was 2 under par after 9 after a bogie, birdie, eagle and 6 pars. Blobbed one hole on the back 9 after putting off the green but still managed 17 points on the way back after lipping out for a 2nd eagle on the 18th. Tap in birdie. So apart from that blob I was +1 for the other 17 holes.
It has been the highlight of the golfing year so far for me.. so for all of you who are suffering with the game at the moment...stick in. You never know when a good score's around the corner. It'll just come out of the blue.
