Wokefield Park fire

Still closed and the weekend Winter Medley Rd 1 has been cancelled. No idea what is going on, or why the course can't be opened to members. The building that is badly damaged in the fire is 100 yards or so away from the 18th Green and behind the driving range and we have been told the course is being maintained as usual so it's quite frustrating we are not able to play.

That's mad! My Dad has lessons down there, he was there a few nights before the fire. Is the pro still teaching at the moment?

Nope, it's completely closed off. I was due to have a lesson on Sunday, but the pro said they're not allowed on site either.

Seems strange. I assume the pro shop etc wasn't damaged or isn't near the damaged property so can't understand this decision.

The pro shop is next to the part that was damaged by the fire (it's actually the same building, well connect via a walkway) Some pictures of the damage in this link http://www.getreading.co.uk/news/reading-berkshire-news/wokefield-park-fire-pictures-see-10439267

But if you look at this pic, the entrance to the pro shop etc is up under where the balcony in the top left past the fire engine juts out

Crikey. Very close to the 18th green. I guess that could be why the course is closed. It's the in and out of the course I guess.

I imagine the building is deemed unsafe and may collapse and as you say, it is relatively close to the 18th green, across the driving range area and up to the 1st. Plenty of room to realistically walk around it if they roped it off, but I'm not sure on what the regulations state so can't comment.
