wish me luck guys, lesson today!

Had a lesson on Tuesday. Can't hit a thing at the moment with intermittant shanking. When I do catch it boy o boy but its the doing it regularly thats the trouble. I can tee it up and swing and its great but I have no trust when the ball is off the mat. Looks like Hywel will have an easy time getting a free beer in tomorrows game. Mind you he'll need a few once England hammer Wales at the rugby

Yessssssss!!!!!!!

I have a lesson tomorrow.....can't wait!!!!
Since Christmas and all the rubbish weather my golf has been like an itch i can't scratch!

Then i'm in a pro-am on tuesday!....nothing like out of the frying pan and into the fire!!!

First of all, dont panic.
Your swing hasn't fallen apart.
You're off 9 so you're a good player.
Something has just slipped and your pro will spot it and help you fix it.
Just tell him exactly what you want help with ie cure the low left shot.
Almost all problems in golf come from either the aim, the grip or both.
He will see your shots go left, alter your grip and bingo.

thanks for the encouragement bob.the thing is m8, this has been going on since sept! i had a lesson with him in oct, and the cures you mentioned were what the lesson was all about, but i just cant get it into my thick head!
Ive been using this pro for a long time and hes got me down to single figures, so i have complete faith in him, sometimes i just need a lesson to get my head right!

Er...bigbiffa is that an England Rugby shirt you're wearing in your signature piccie??? I thought you Scots were funny about that sort of thing.....fair play to you!!! ;)

I've got a lesson booked for Sunday morning. Chipping and putting for me. I'm fed up with hitting lovely 300 yard+ drives, needing a cheeky wedge - smashing it over the green and taking 6!!! Hopefully it'll go someway to help me convert those drives into pars.....

Oh, and I hope to buy a new putter as well. I'm going to try them as part of my lesson. :o

Just goes to show 99% of this game is mental you dont need a golf pro you need a psyciatrist and the brain power to take it all in.

This is in fact true, there's an article in todays Mail reporting that a Chicago University has done some research between pro golfers and novices and the pros only use a very small amount of their brains, the areas that deal with choices and consequences whereas the novices brain had difficulty filtering out irrelevant information.

Best of luck mate. I was hoping to have a lesson tomorrow but i havent had the time to practice enough wiv the drills from the last one so have put it back a week.

the lesson went great m8! seems i wasnt turning my hips, and closing the club at the top of the backswing, also letting my right foot move in backswing! not much then lol!
Hit some balls yesterday, played today, and managed an 82 with a creditable 36 stableford points, so improvements from last week......!
