Pure white here this morning, so winter golf it is. Large bowl of porridge and off to St. Andrews to play the Eden. Here's hoping the G20 protesters keep away.

We're sitting at a nippy -4C at 9am, has warmed a little since then so now around 0C. Tried a couple of chips in the garden but frozen solid.

Golf is not on the cards any time soon!

Our winter rules came in last week - had to explain them to Fragger - but the course still looks pretty good.
Some slightly squidgy bits but lots of firm fairways.
Apparently its going to be a chilly week.
Can't wait.......

Thats what I love about golf

Which ever way you turn, there is something new to learn

I know how a stableford works and matchplay.
Now I need to find what a scramble is, im sure its nothing to do with eggs

Fairways were fine yesterday but the rough was heavy going. The one thing I really hate though is the leaves especially if your ball is only just off the fairway and you have to spend time searching for it.

Didn't play today but worked on my chipping and putting with my v-easy. Cold but I had a warm hat and an FJ jacket so was quite content to spend a couple of hours working on it.

Well, St Andrews was lovely, if a bit cold. Still cold enough for a jumper, but sunny and blue skies. Terrific greens and fairways although not much roll for a links course. There was certainly a loss of distance with the cold weather but a good day was had by all.
Incidentally it is -2* outside and only 8.30 pm.

winter rules were in place at Stoke Rochford though they didn't apply to me. I kept the greenkeepers happy by staying off the fairways!

I really don't like winter rules, too many people with their own interpretation.
