If the ground conditions do get bad, which seldom does at Blairgowrie, we have reciprocal arrangements with links courses at Crail and Lundin Links. Carnoustie and St Andrews are also within 40 minutes drive and during the winter can be played for just over £20 a round.

It should have been carry only at my course this morning, I appreciate they try to keep everyone happy but it was very wet after last nights hoolie and the rain was starting again as I came off at 12noon. At least they've announced a local rule of pick & place through the green, so we can pick, clean & place in the rough to help both course and players.

3 clubs and a putter at ours today so carried as did the vast majority. Was bitterly cold as didn't have enough layers on and didn't think i need my Mitts, schoolboy error.
Enjoyed carrying and might again with say 7 clubs when it's very wet.

15 hole comp so in before rain :)

played today with a couple of mates, missed the rain until the 16th. not a bad day and played OK with only a couple of shots dropped on the first 2 holes.

last day on the full course for us, winter course from monday, so virtually off the ladies tee's

P1ss wet through today. Couldnt feel hands either after 6 holes. Pointless but pair we were playing with wouldn't call it.

Am so mad I signed up for a winter league!!! Winter is for casual golf only, easier to call off!

Played today with Wayman and a couple of mates in Ind Stab Comp, first off at 7:35, very cold and wind got up, thankfully stayed dry until a few hours after we'd finished, Course not too bad at all and only 1 temp green.

I would have said keep playing when weather was ok

But after yesterday I played the valley links in portrush and said that's me till spring was never as cold in my life. I mean was that bad I lost feeling in hands, face then my feet could hardly open my mouth/jaw. Was cold to the bone was hoping for the Silver foil when I came in just like you get when pulled from the sea by coast. Guard

Took a shower when I got in was standing in it and then it felt so hot so turned it down to cold no change. Had it set right the way to cold then still felt like it was burning skin off me.

Suffice to say I sit tonight with a sore throat and limbs killing me. Never again

I will play 2 or 3 times a week throughout the Winter, unless the course is closed or the weather is really awful (as in blowing a hoolie and pouring with rain at the same time). Generally only lying snow will cause our course to be closed as it drains quite well.

Thank you all very much for your time. An excellent voting turnout of over 100 people. The only conclusion drawn, is that well over half of us don't like getting wet, so Waterproof Golf Apparel is probably not a good market to be getting in to.
Looking outside of my window now, I have taken today off to go golfing as I have spare annual leave days left, and as Sods Law would have it, it's chucking it down, with 40mph gusts forecast! I won't be venturing out :(

Played yesterday and holding the umbrella horizontally walking up the fairway with rain and wind and mud I was thinking WTF am I doing, not pleasant at all. Have a few comps left in December, and will then probably play a lot less over the next few months.

What a northern wuss, you'll be 18 stone by then

I'll be training over the winter, hopefully losing some fat and sticking a few lean pounds on, also going to be doing lots of flexibility work. Come March weather permitting I may pick the clubs up, but chances are I'll wait until the clocks change.

If I decide I'm not enjoying it I will just walk off, don't mind strong winds and a bit of rain but not a fan of having 10 layers on and having bits of me shrink in the cold.

I am probably not going to play much this winter but not sure anyone will be as we are getting 18 inches of snow next week, so that'll be the UK shut till Feb.

I can't wait to play in the Saturday comp after being stuck in doors at work all week so I would go out in most weather conditions. This week only 7 of us ventured out to play but it turned out not to be too bad. Our course is only closed if the greens are flooded or there is snow covering the course so there are very few times that I don't get out. Just think, less than a month until the daylight hours start getting longer so roll on summer.

Played yesterday, very windy and hardly any rain. Ground is very wet!

Was brilliant in the wind, hit a great drive into wind and it went about 175 yards:rofl:

Will play most weeks if the weather is tolerable. In truth, I don't really enjoy playing in wind and rain with mud balls and temporary greens, and particularly don't like starting when it is already raining, but a game on a still, bright, crisp winter's day can be a real joy.

No golf here at the moment a dusting of snow on the links and that has frozen solid, thaw coming tomorrow so may get on at the week end.

Lesson later this morning and two tee times booked for the weekend. Forecast looks not too bad for the rest of the week, with the rain making a reappearance on Friday night - just in time for the weekend !!
