Winter Distance

that's interesting... ive played a few times with a Pinnacle ladies ball and it was like a stone.

'Pinnacle' is where you've gone wrong!

Also use 2 balls, change ball on alternate holes, warming the other up well inside your clothing for body heat. Warm ball = longer distance.

At the very least it's 1 extra club for me, I tend to use the yardage for the back of the green based solely if I flush it, which if I do I'm on the back, if I'm 1 club under I'm still in the middle of the green, if I hit a poorer shot I'm still over any trouble and on the front of the green, I like this thinking as I'm committing more to my approach shots. If the greens are frozen I play to the front.

Carry distances are key to your yardages off the tee, roll out is just a bonus imo, especially on undulating or sloping fairways where you could hit into an upslope and the ball stops very quickly or rolls to the side.

During these cold wet months its added at least 1 club extra on my shots, Ive lost about 20 yards of distance on my driver.
So yes the cold does effect distance but also the wetness I'm losing so much roll on my shots.
Ive always got my summer yardages and my winter yardages

Example my 7 iron in the summer Id use it anything between 150 -160 depending on conditions
and my 7 iron in the winter now Id use it anything between 140 -150 depending on conditions

Its a well known proven fact that the ball does compress well when its cold!!
Warm your balls up before you go on a round and hit a cold one and warm one and see what happens! That's way a lot of people play a harder ball in the winter. Also the ground is wet and doesn't roll as well.
