Windows updates 8.1

They don't seem to be working on HID's PC.

Done the troubleshooter and it's alledgedly fixed the issue but it's just stuck on checking for updates. Been trying for days and it sometimes gets past the checking and downloads them but then won't install them. It just gets stick again.

Any ideas on what else I can try. Seen about going into the registry mentioned but not sure if I feel confident in doing that.

Try starting in safe mode. (Keep tapping F8 at start-up). Once the pc starts, go to Windows update and try to install any updates that have already been downloaded.
