Oh how I hate Windows 8. suffered it now for about 6 months, since I got new laptop. I was told I would get used to it. No I haven't. It may be okay for the touch screen gadgets, but in my opinion not suitable for the laptop traditional key board computers

It must be the worst version of windows ever. Why couldn't I have the choice when buying a new laptop. I use windows 7 at work, but bring back the good old XP any day for me

I actually really like windows 8. I have it on my phone and on my touch screen laptop/hp tablet, it works brilliant on all touch screen devices and i wouldn't want to switch back to 7.

like all things that are different just takes getting used to.

My mum has it on her laptop and I literally cannot use it! The setup, workability of the whole package is awful.

Windows 7 is hell of a lot more user friendly.

If your laptop has a touch screen then of course it will work and feel like its supposed too. Try using it with a mouse....

Mother-in-law bought a laptop, ain't used a PC for years so said I'd nip round, set it up and create all her folders etc....was horrified, felt a right dick when I couldn't 'teach' her.

Surely MS have a plan with the millions of licenses on office desktop's around the world that they'll want to eventually upgrade but whatever climb down they patch with the next service pack for W8 I sill think the best option will be W7, for a good while yet. That is of course, until you buy your next laptop, when touch screens will have flooded the mass home market.

Still on Windows 7 on my desktop and no desire to upgrade. Fully agree that XP was a great version too.

3.11 anyone?

8.1 preview is now available from the technet site. It will be fully upgradeable to the final version as and when it comes out later this year. Give that a go as I myself hate w8 in its stock appearance.
