Where can I get a copy of Win 7 from and would I still need to pay for it now that its end of life or is it now free?

I have a couple of HP laptops that I want to flatten and do a fresh install. One is an old work one with loads of crap on it, and the other stopped working when I failed to take advantage of the free download to windows 10 that was on offer. It now complains that it doesn't have a genuine copy of windows installed.

By the way I am happy with Win 7 so don't want to move to 10 unless I really have to.

Ahh 7, the good old days.

It has its issues now but at the time...

It does not cost much extra (on ebay that is ) to get Win 8.1 and that is going to be supported to 2021.
