Had a look at the new iron heads this morning, they are really nice.

Going to have a hit with them next time i'm there (Local AG)

I like the look of the Staff’s, especially the idea of custom fit through Clubhouse Golf. I’d go with the Recoil 65 shafts, 4 iron - GWedge

Wilson are still suffering from the image they created in the 80s and 90s....a Big Box brand.
For one reason or another they did a "TopFlite" and became a budget brand.
They make good gear...no doubt about that
But they don't/can't chuck big money around like Callaway, TM, Ping etc...
And so they get overlooked.
The reviews, however, heap plenty of praise

Fitter said making a matched set with XP and CB was easy as lofts were the same through our the range.

He did say the XP were like cannons but they were a low spinning head so he would suggest CB in the scoring irons.

The issue with matching lofts, is there is often a massive gap from the switch over with different heads.

When it was an American brand for golf products it had better kudos. It was when it was bought by a Finnish company it lost a lot of that.

Looking on the web it is still the same Finnish company but is a subsidiary of a Chinese Company.

He is more likely to be a salesman than a fitter - experiences in AG can be a bit hit and miss when it comes to buying clubs. Unless you are trying different shafts, it is not really a fitting, just a 'try before you buy'

I'd suggest finding an actual club fitter if he thinks loft is the only factor in distance gaps between clubs.

The reviews online for the new irons have been extremely positive, I've yet to see anyone with anything too negative to report. Seem to be a really quality product.

The fall began when PepsiCo bought it in 1970.
The Finnish company (Amer Sports) began the revival of the brand when they acquired it circa 1989.

1970 is before my 'golfing time'. When I became a member of my current club in 1986 the pro had a good stock of Wilson clubs, mainly forged ones from memory, I came close to buying a set when switching from the Petrons I had owned for about 8 years.

The entire new range is fantastic. In my testing the XB iron spin was only 400 RPM lower than the blade. Importantly, the descent angle was 46.2 on the blade and 46.0 on the XB.

XB was 12 yards longer in carry and total distance.

This isn’t a normal hollow body, power players iron. I’ve been describing it like a Taylormade P780. It has the distance of a P790 but the launch/spin/control of a P770.

I’m super impressed with the whole range, but I think XB will be a real game changer for Wilson Staff. Looks, Feel, Performance.. and a little bit nicer on the pocket than competitors.

Ps I promise I don’t work for Wilson 😂

Yes that seems to be the feedback coming from online. Testers seem to be really impressed. If it transfers into sales is another story of course.
Wilson producing quality stuff at moment, their balls are getting great feedback too.
If they can improve in the driver's, woods it would be huge for them, having said that their latest woods seem to be a step forward too
