Hi,
anyone know anything about wills, i.e the price you pay , what you should be looking at. Is there do it yourself ones that would stand up if contested ?

Only asking as had a incident at work that made me realise that I need to sort some things out .

Cheers

Midnight...

I think it costs about £100 to have one drafted up proper.

Now I'm a homeowner with HID we really need to get one sorted. Just makes everything seem so finite. Growing up sucks baws!

I have to agree mate growing up does indeed suck :D

Never mind wills, we are trying to sort out lasting power of attourney. Way more complicated, but if anything happened.....

Alot depends on your circumstances mate . wife /partner .. kids etc .. best thing to do is make a rough draft of what you would like to happen then go see your solicitor & let him/her have a read .. if you have young kids you have to allow for them to be looked after & provided for etc until they are 18,, (gets complicated allowing for scenario of something happening to both parents) We did ours a while back & there is alot you wouldnt even think of , over here it varies €100-€150 each.. best to have it done professionaly tho as if god forbid its needed then your wishes should be protected & would stand up to legal challange by greedy git relations.. very strange sensation doing it , reality .. dont you just hate it ha

Most local solicitors include a Will for free, when working on a house purchase and indeed we have a Will week where part of the knock down price goes to charity.

The solicitor listens to your situation, using his WP draws up an example will and off you toddle, to think about your chosen destination for your goodies. When satisfied you contact him/her and then have the Will tailored to your requirements.

Power of Attorney, due to the large amount of people we have working in the oil industry, all around the world, are very necessary so that legal matters can be undertaken with only one party present.

The big problem can be getting one drawn up for someone who's mind is not 100% (perhaps a parent)as this leaves the solicitor in no-mans land if the older person can be seen 'as not of sound mind'!

That's why we are doing it now. Why wait til you're ga ga before thinking about it. One car crash, and you're stuffed.

You can make a will online for around £30. My late wife did hers that way and there was no problem when it came to using it.

Talking about power of attorney with my mum especially after recent events. She's got her will all sorted and all the plans for the end sorted. Puts me to shame. With no kids I need to get something sorted so HID gets the lot excpet for my golf gear which she is under instruction to put up for sale on here ;)

I thought you were talking about Price William.
Shame.
I know everything there is to know about Prince William

I thought that too but I am no fountain of knowledge on the heir to the throne.

In fact the only thing I am sure of is that he is a very lucky prince to be able to hit the sack with his beautiful wife every night!

She is absolutely gorgeous! :p
