Will the SLDR Mini save the Squirrel?

Still use mine off the tee quite a lot. Should use it more but I'm too stubborn and want to use the big dogg even when it's not behaving. I tee it very low so I don't actually find it hard to hit off the deck but there's only 2 holes at my place that require it for a second shot, and I only use it on those if I've found the fairway off the tee.

mine replaced my driver for the latter part of the summer - it's an R/16 when the rest of the bag is S.

16 isn't a problem from the tee - I get a similar launch angle and trajectory to my 10.5 driver - but is reassuring from the fairway

the head size is reassuring from the tee

basically, for me, the club hits the ball the distance I need to be able to get up in 2 on most holes; it just does the job I need from the tee.

I'm sure there are loads of other clubs that would also do this - but I'm happy with this one.

Interesting. I was leaning towards a 14' for primarily off the tee. The Adams 5 wood I have is a monster so not fussed about hitting the Mini off the fairway. They seem like rocking horse poo in shops though, so can't find an opportunity to hit one!

Just back from the range and on first impressions I really like this club! It is on a par (excuse the pun) or better than the Cleveland Classic XL for me in distance terms and also not too far behind my RBZ.

Even the off centre hits go well and the dispersion is really tight.

That's the Cleveland out of the bag even though it's only about 6 weeks old

They guy in the next bay was getting fitted for irons and asked me what club I was hitting and was going to add to his list

I've toyed with one but never taken the plunge. By all accounts , they are more forgiving (higher lofted clubs usually are) so yes, I think it will be a squirrel saver ...... On the subject of strong 3 woods has anyone tried the 13 degree Ping Rapture ?? Looks nice but seems well pricey !!

Funny you should bring that up, I'm looking at a 913FD with 13.5° loft.

To the OP, I hit one when they first landed on the shelves at the range I use, but wasn't overly keen.

Primarily because of the noise the thing makes when struck.

Not sure about the SLDR mini, but I love my X2 Hot 3Deep, which is Callaway's equivalent. It's actually easier to hit from the fairway than most 3 woods I've tried and it's great off the tee. Would highly recommend.

Careful lads. I tried a 13.5 3 wood for a while. I ended up putting it on the naughty step as it wasn't the easiest to get up in the air due to the low loft. off the tee it did go miles. When it went off line it was bad.

I won't be going less than 15 degrees now on a 3 wood. Completely off the idea of strong 3 woods now.

The problem is that many of these clubs are designed for the stronger swinger. If you have a medium to slow swing speed you wont find a great benefit when compared to a good 3 wood.

I bought the 12 degree slider when they first came out based on the reviews and what I'd read. I demoed it at the range and it was pretty good however after using it on the course over a few weeks it quickly became apparent that although a good club, it didn't offer enough distance or accuracy over my standard 3 wood to gain a place in the bag. I had no problems hitting it off the fairway but the odd miss strikes did result in a considerable fade.

I was lucky that I sold it quickly before the shops could meet demand so I didn't loose too much on the club. It is worth a hit for those considering a change but the best advice I can give anybody who's looking to improve their driving is to look at the shorter shafted drivers and invest in a few lessons.

The more reading on here, Googling and YouTubing I do, the more I want to have a bash with one... Good evening eBay...

Still use mine on tight holes but not as often since I got an 11.5 R9 with shorter shaft. One thing it has done is help me massively with my driving and give me the confidence to use the big stick again.
I still hit bad shots but if I'm struggling, it's my go to club as it gets the ball in the air and generally keeps it straight. Lad I played with a few weeks ago uses his from the fairway but he's cat 1.
