Could it be that some are looking for clubs that better fit "there game"
The technology involved in the new Taylor Made RS1 irons "could" (could) help me.
I've always had a tendency to tee up with the ball on the very toe of the club, sometimes even an inch or so outside it.
Don't ask me why, but I've always done it.
Now I must do something very weird during the downswing (I do lot's of weird things during my swing!) as I seem to make "reasonable" contact, and strike marks on my irons show that I do sometimes hit it out of the middle of the club. But my bad shot is poor contact, lack of distance and a tingling sensation in my hands, which indicates a toe hit. These new irons have "face slots" to assist in toe/heel hits. They say that you won't lose an awful lot of distance should you catch one out of the toe and all of the reviews/videos I have read or watch seem to bear this out.
Now some would say "have a lesson to sort it out" but being honest, due to a combination of lack of time and lack of real interest, I can't be arsed.
I've been "forced" into another change of clubs due to a purchasing error with my last set. I was quite happy to buy the same clubs again but this time with the correct shaft. But somebody pointed out these new RS1 irons to me, I read about them, watched videos and then saw the club in the flesh and I feel that they might help me.
They won't sort out my shonky swing, but they could give me better results from it than other clubs.
On looks and feel alone, I am now going to feel a little more confident approaching an iron shot to the green than I did with the Pings.
For me at least, it's worth the money to try to find out.
