Why did you join the forum?

To meet some new faces, play a few different courses & have somewhere to chat about things, golf related & otherwise. Seemed a good place from the pages in GM, so thought I'd give it a try, so far, so good.

I was on a few forums for other sports and thought i would see what golf had to offer. This forum is by far and away the best golf forum out there, the rest arent even a speck of poo on the shoe of this one :). I was newish to golf when i joined and decided i needed to get out there and put myself out of my comfort zone rather than just weekly comps with similar people every week at my home club.

Met some great people so far and looking forward to having some more cracking days out in the future.

I only started getting the magazine on the back of finding this forum too

I was interested in buying a new VW Golf so I joined up as it looked like a good place to discuss golfs. But I must say that there does not seem to be much car based discussion on here, just old duffers going on about the stiffness of their shafts and moaning about the kids today wanting to wear jeans. Worst car forum ever:(

I wanted to find people who share my passion for the game.... still looking

Played golf with some uber nice people along the way

I joined to get a well balanced view on the old firm.

The extra has piqued my interest in golf to a whole new level. This is a great place.

I joined the forum to get hints and tips on playing golf and the equipment used. It never dawned on me that I would be able to meet up with people for a round and play lots of new courses but this is now my main reason for logging in.

I've got a bag of gear I'm happy with, chat with like minded people about anything and play golf with a great bunch of lads from the forum on a regular basis.

God only knows what I would do if I didn't trawl the forum and eBay :D

I have had some of my most enjoyable golfing days playing Forum Meets.

unfortunately, the people you played with cant say the same......

PS do you want to grab some lunch before the round tomorrow? I'm planning to get there around 12

I read a thread on swinging and I just knew this was the site for me, been disappointed ever since.....

To share some golf related banter. It was a simpler place without so many sections. It led to forum meets, me editing the forum pages in the mag and it has grown and grown. Despite recent events it is still the best golfing forum

I will be there at 12.00 as well, assuming I can find the place.;) Will be nice to give Billy and his mate a good spanking (so to speak)

Was it three it took you to get out of the bunker on the 12th ?

Why did I join?

I lurked for a good while, probably a few months. I was looking for answers to swing issues I was having which I found in the expert section.

The I found the lounge. I found I could relate to a lot of the topics being posted so I decided to join the fun.

Previously a runner and triathlete and member of forums for advice assistance and banter for them

Returned to golf after several years and found gm

This forum is tame compared to some of the triathlon and biking fora!!

something to click on when HID comes in the room so she thinks i'm talking about golf and not on the dating site i was really on,also to take the Micky out of newbies and people asking stupid questions, but really for the banter.

I signed up for it a few years ago and just forgot about it, then when I moved to London I wanted some advice on courses as Shooters seemed to be dragging their feet, got involved in a couple of conversations and haven't really left since! Been on a couple of meets at 2 top venues and won a fitting - all in all a good move!
