Why did you choose your home club?

Choice of 3 clubs nearby.

1. A cow field - worse than a goat track

2. Nice course, a bit more expensive and a bit further away

3. Nice course, a bit cheaper, closer to home and work.

Chose 3. Happy with it.

changed clubs 2 yr ago , joined local one for handiness sake, nice club , nice people , very good staff, all good you say & yes it is & no complaints.. but i prefer my old course ,, you had to realy play your way round it , i had to play irons off tee on 2 of the par 4s.. had a risk & reward short par 4 12th you could drive & eagle it or have a 7.. i think local & price would be the 2 biggest attractions tho

Course quality, reputation for being a friendly club, 15 minutes from home, and already knew a few members.

I did actually win a Society day at the club years previously which didn't put me off joining. Thought the course suited my game, but soon put right on that front. :( :( ;)

Main Criteria for me:

Friends play so always a game in the offing
Interesting & challenging course - plays different in different conditions
Feels like I am million miles away when I am on the course & feels great to be there
Close to home
On way back from work (stuck in traffic Honey)
Nearly always open (snow the exception)
Comps - plenty of them

Played all local courses but fell in love with this one.

my current is a pay and play as is less than 3 miles from home. for and P&P it has good features with some nice liltte holes.

I joned here because

1) it was local
2) ive played the course for years
3) it suit me as they offered a swindle membership scheme which was great because at the time i was playing loads of other courses.

Now things have changed and i seem to be playing 90% of my golf out of there so green fee's are totting it now making it viable to join a members only course and get the most from my membership.

3 courses are short listed and i know i need to make a choice soon.

There were basically 7 courses that I decided were close enough to me. 4 of these were 9 holers and I would prefer 18. One of the 18 holers had a £1000 joining fee, so that ruled it out. That left 2, the stuffy club that my parents were members of for years, that is a traditional golf club with members bar, restraunt etc. My biggest problem with this club though is the fact that the course is built on the side of a hill and you are forever going up and down. None of the holes really stand out. The other being the one that I joined. It has a full 18 hole course and a 9 hole par3 plus driving range. It doesn't have a members bar but there is a bar/restraunt right beside the clubhouse that gives 10% off to members. The course itself is by no means flat but no where near as hilly as the other, and it has a few nice feature holes with water in play. This club is also privately owned so there was no need to be going in front of comitees to get membership. Just walk in and pay my fees.

Hi Gents

I am considering changing clubs, my current club is now trying to turn into a fancy spa and I think in the long run this will affect the golf. There is also 2 clubs closer to home.

I wondered what is important to you and why you joined your club.

One of the best courses in the area (in my opinion) also very friendly down to earth members....not to far from you either...out of interest which club are you at now ?

I currently playing at the chase Nr Penkridge
